I think George Lazenby (sp) is criminally underrated as Bond. Also, his movie was more true to the books (for better and worse) than almost any other Bond movie.

I like how in the following season premiere, Jazz asks, “Who’s playing the mom this year?” And then Nicky comes in at like 4-years-old after being born the previous season and says, “It’s the same mom!”

I worked with Janet Hubert on a movie a few years ago. She is very difficult to work with. I can easily see why they got sick of being around her.
→ More replies (1)38
u/Dale_Carvello 17h ago
I had always heard that Smith would be dragging Hubert down and disrespecting her on the set, but then I rabbit-holed on the history behind her time on the show, and by many accounts she was upset that a relatively new star like Smith got his own series while she had been working in entertainment for ages, and here she had to play yet another supporting role.

I don’t much about what happened on Fresh Prince to be honest, but I found her to be extremely demanding and unreasonable. She wanted things done her way without any regard for how it affected everybody else’s work flow or time.
On top of that, she’s just not very nice. Could never remember my name. I used to dread meetings with her.

This ones weird, he said he got super self-conscious about how "fat" he had become in the role, and how "awful" he looked. So screw character continuity he decided he needed to be fit, and subsequently looked like he became anorexic by season 5. I was legit worried about his health which is why I even looked around at interviews.
Really odd because hes a god damn beefcake (complimentary) in the first few seasons. Doesnt look like an unhealthy weight by any means. Versus looking incredibly unhealthily skinny? Goes to show how deep the behind the scenes body shaming is in hollywood to this day.

Failure from the makeup department, IMO. Hafþór already had a pretty noticeable receding hairline; dye his hair and beard with some grey and throw some face makeup and he could plausably pass as 40. Instead they did...nothing I guess?

Richard Harris I feel like better embodied Dumbledore’s character. Michael Gambon wasn’t terrible, but Richard Harris was better, IMO.
102
u/AutomaticAd9670 21h ago
Same. He was always my favorite. He made Dumbledore feel like someone who was nonchalantly wise and caring, and would let Harry make mistakes but not admonish him for it. Michael’s version was great too, but he was more bothered by Harry and felt impatient with him. Not as warm as Richard’s version.
Someone in another thread put it perfectly. They said something along the lines of: Richard’s Dumbledore was perfect through Harry’s eyes - someone to be loved. Michael’s Dumbledore was perfect through Voldemort’s eyes - someone to be feared. They each embodied an aspect of the character that was needed for the story.

I obviously don't like that Richard Harris died, but I think there's something gained from the 2 different versions that you couldn't get from just one. There's 2 very different dumbledores, the one who's excitable and wants to fill your heart with wonder and say "alas earwax" when he eats the wrong jellybean, and there's also the greatest living wizard who deeply cared for not one but 2 of the most horrific threats to the wizarding world who ever lived, and feels he let both down. Harris never feels fearsome or troubled, Gambon never quite reaches the same levels of whimsy, but dumbledore needs to feel like all of that to be him...
...is what I would say if I ever watched these movies, which obviously I haven't because watching movies is for fuddy-duddies and yahoo's

Of the major characters, they did the best job casting Allicent's kid and adult actors. They really look like the same person. Rhaenyra's transformation is pretty good. Aemond's doesn't look quite right but it kind of works. Aegon's is the absolute worst, though. Like he somehow got shorter and his face completely changed despite already being almost an adult in his childhood episodes.
