This ones weird, he said he got super self-conscious about how "fat" he had become in the role, and how "awful" he looked. So screw character continuity he decided he needed to be fit, and subsequently looked like he became anorexic by season 5. I was legit worried about his health which is why I even looked around at interviews.
Really odd because hes a god damn beefcake (complimentary) in the first few seasons. Doesnt look like an unhealthy weight by any means. Versus looking incredibly unhealthily skinny? Goes to show how deep the behind the scenes body shaming is in hollywood to this day.
I dunno whats up with this shows behind the scenes culture because MM's actor looked fine. Same with starlights actor who looked like a runway model but still didn't think she looked good and took a bunch of plastic surgery to turn herself into a Barbie doll.
What's with good looking actors in the boys needing to push themselves?
Y'all gotta get off of Erin Moriarty's case she had Grave's disease. And MM's actor was feeling bad about his weight because at his biggest in season 2 he took on a bunch of weight during covid by ordering in food all the time and he didn't wanna put his health at risk so he decided to lose the weight. You're so focused on how they looked on screen but they're human beings who decided to DO something for health reasons.
You guys keep bringing up her Graves’ disease excuse without asking yourselves if that makes any sense. I’ve known multiple people with hyperthyroidism and none had tens of thousands of dollars in plastic surgery as a side effect.
Graves disease doesn't make your face immobile and hollow out the fat in your cheeks. She got bad plastic surgery in addition to whatever she was going through medically.
Not true at all, they have completely different diseases, Erin Moriarty has Graves' disease which does not make her look like a plastic Barbie doll. At most it can affect how the eyes look like or lead to weight loss, but not give you buccal fat removal.
Not much better. Eating disorders have an insanely high mortality rate compared to other mental illnesses. It’s not stage 4 cancer but anorexia nervosa has an over 500% increased mortality rate compared to the avg pop. It ranks
behind opioid substance abuse (roughly every 10 ppl that die from opioid abuse, 2 die from eating disorders, 1 of which from anorexia nervosa)
Are you telling me Im wrong about my perception of health?
If you think he looks unhealthily skinny then yes, you are absolutely wrong. He's 6 feet and about 200 pounds, was 250 before and said he got too overweight during covid and that's why he decided to lose it.
Well he didnt say anything like that, he talked like he thought he was some slovenly lump of fat. No mention of any legitimate health concerns, just seeing himself on posters and hating how "big" he looked.
To be fair thats not the reason that the change was made. Its a happy coincidence that allows you to headcanon away the real life uncomfortableness of the situation.
