Discussion / Question Question regarding Assassins Creed series…

Upvotes

Just picked up Black Flag resynced and am having a blast so far. I’m about 3-4 hours in. This is my first Assassins Creed game so my question is are there any others worth checking out? I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do so I’m excited to possibly try out others. Thanks!

Discussion / Question What is a video game you consider to be an absolute, unassailable 10/10 masterpiece?

Upvotes

No game is truly perfect, but what’s a game that gets as close to perfection as humanly possible? I’m talking about a game where the story, the gameplay loop, the soundtrack, and the atmosphere all came together seamlessly to create something unforgettable.

For me, it’s a game where even the flaws feel like part of its charm, and the credits rolling left me staring blankly at the wall for twenty minutes just processing what I experienced. What’s that one definitive game for you?

Discussion / Question At what point does someone become a real gamer?

Post image
Upvotes

We throw the word gamer around all the time, but everyone seems to have a different definition. Is it about the platform you play on? The number of hours? The types of games you enjoy?

Personally, I don't think the platform matters. If you genuinely enjoy playing games and gaming is one of your hobbies, you're a gamer. Whether that's on PC, console, mobile, or even retro hardware.

After 500 hours, I still haven't ridden it. I read a tip online that there are lots of good mining locations along the route of the tracks. I should farm some materials while enjoying a nice train ride.

Discussion / Question My take on disco elysium Spoiler

Post image
Upvotes

In Disco Elysium, I experienced thrill, joy, sadness, relief and much more. Clearly it is undoubtedly one of the most unique and immersing experiences I've ever had. Needless to say, the dialogues are fantastic and amusing while the events of story enhance that amusement astronomically. Sure, the first two hours of the game felt a little boring since you aren't presented with marks that inform you of the quests to progress the main story. However, the game is made too well that nearly every quest in the game hints the correct direction of the main quest. Unfortunately, I didn't felt attached to any of the soundtracks.

Discussion / Question I love how these games in one way or another inspire players to theory craft

granted while they're also a mostly completed narrative but with the way they sprinkle some stuff in the grand story of their respective series, it's a tiny bit but enough for us to fill in the blanks ourselves & why I enjoy how any media can get me thinking which I mean that as a VERY good thing and why these games are some of my favorites of all time

Discussion / Question How difficult would it be to do a pacifist run in the current game your playing?

Upvotes

Not hurt anyone. You could try to disable them, talking them out of it. Without actually hurting anyone?

Impossible

Discussion / Question Everyones favourite maps

Upvotes

Me and a coworker were talking about game maps the other day. I couldn't think of my favourite. Like GTA is basically just an old school city paper map. I really liked how they did the Dead Space map. It had a modern take on the old school Resident Evil style map. My favourite map was from the greatest game ever A Link to the past. But realistically, it was also just a basic paper map style by design. I love a good stylized map but can pick one that is the best.

TLDR: the question is. What is your favourite game map? Doesn't have to be the best game ever blah blah. Just a map that made you "wow" when you saw it.

Thanks for your time

Discussion / Question Is Fortnite the easiest game to actually get good at?

So recently I started playing valorant(never played csgo either) and I find it all so hard to understand and even then you have to ACTUALLY become better. In contrast even years ago I remember starting Fortnite and I was able to be great at building(obviously compared to most of my friends who DID play for years). But then point in trying to make is it feels like there isn’t any shortcuts you can take. For most games there are ways that you can become way better than most people who have been playing for a year,in just a month just like in fifa aswell. In valorant though(same thing goes for csgo im pretty sure)it’s just pure skill difference when it comes to aim and movement. My setup isn’t any bad either apart from my ping that’s 45 which isn’t ideal but not terrible especially for a very very low rank.Tell me your thoughts on this because I feel like some bot.

Discussion / Question Baseball game with wild home run derby

I think it was late 90s maybe 2000s. Probably PS1. There was a baseball game that had a crazy home run derby. One field was in a bedroom. One was a construction site. And I think there was a couple others. Anyone remember it? The bedroom field was my favorite and from what I remember, the soundtrack was banging.

Discussion / Question What controller features would you like to see in the next generation consoles?

I would like to see the introduction of back buttons either as remappable buttons or even more ideal, completely functional one. I want this so that the player could have more choice to bind the game's input to other buttons, also on the ring and pinky fingers on the hand are the only ones that havent been utillised. If game makers dont feel like having inputs for those back buttons that's fine, after all it's no harm to grant players more choices to opt for.

Image / Video Your opening dialogue choices in Sea of Remnants affect your character creation options

I was watching some CN beta footage and apparently the answers you give during the opening sequence actually lock in certain character creation stuff.

Depending on what you say when you first wake up, you get a head model that's tied to your responses — and it's not like one specific type. Different answer combos give you different looks. Some are serious, some are cute, some are just straight up unhinged lol. I've even seen people looking up guides just to get the specific head they want.

It's a small detail but it makes those early dialogue choices feel like they actually matter, not just filler you click through without thinking. Plus it gives players something to talk about and compare, which is cool.

Discussion / Question What's a thing you genuinely dislike in games when you speak about it people keep thinking it's a skill issue or you missed something but no, you simply don't like it?

For me, it's puzzles, mazes and the lack of proper orientation tools like a real map or quest markers (I'm the kind of guy who gets lost without a gps or a map irl, I don't need that struggle replicated in video games, thank you).

Just kidding. I never had them. That's why you don't see me holding them with my lovable mug in the frame. Also, the GameCube community removed this through automod, so I looked for the most meme-friendly general gaming subreddit.

With that said, I've always had problems with "the worst games of all time." I feel that it's a very highly curated list driven by cultural excitement and overreactions.

The kind of people who pay too much attention to that list are the people who will have a personal crisis if you show them a Superman 64 cartridge. What's your take on notoriously bad games?

Discussion / Question Help me identify this Game! Point-and-click adventure game where the protagonist gets teleported to the past and wakes up naked

  • The Opening: The main character gets into a fight in an alleyway, and for some reason, this event causes him to get teleported back in time.
  • The Beginning of the Past: He wakes up completely naked in the past. He has to use a nearby bush to cover himself.
  • The Pit Escape: He starts off trapped in some sort of pit or ditch and has to use a tree to catapult himself out of it.
  • Specific Puzzle/Scene: I distinctly remember a part where the character fires a massive cannon just to hit a tiny fly.
  • Another Scene: There is a moment where the character flexes his sword skills by swiftly slicing a candle.

Has anyone played this ridiculous game? I don't understand the whole QWOP style gameplay craze. Like, everything just has to be MILLENIAL RANDOM or something. It's Stumble Step on boom pop dot games. (that is the site thx)
