Worldwide The Odyssey + Spider-Man: Brand New Day (ODY+BND) vs Dune: Part Three + Avengers: Doomsday (Dp3+A:DD)?
When all is said and done, when we look back at the box office of 2026 films, which paring of auteur blockbuster and Marvel behemoth will make more at the global box office?
If we went purely off of the past performances in these respective franchises (Nolan is his own franchise) then:
Oppenheimer ($976.8 Million) + Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.921 Billion) = $2.898 Billion
Dune: Part Two ($715 Million) + Avengers: Endgame ($2.799 Billion) = $3.514 Billion
A $616 Million advantage to D2+A:E
Now the obvious advantage that ODY+BND over Dp3+A:DD is The Odyssey's extra 2 weeks, whereas Dp3+A:DD will be released on the same day.
Also there will most likely be a lot lest competition for the rest of the Summer compared to Jumanji's entrance in Dunesday's second weekend.
From what I have seen, this sub definitely seems to be quite bullish that Dp3 can make a billion opposite A:DD, however this sub is also starting to think ODY will far exceed expectations and fly like a pegasus into the billion dollar club.
On the other hand, this sub also thinks BND is going to be a juggernaut and very well likely join the $2B, however there's been some notable debate on whether this will be a "fluke" because Spider-Man is so popular, and his box office success won't help A:DD at all, but others think A:DD could very well piggyback off of Spidey's success, and will very likely surpass it, and in turn become the second highest grossing comic book movie of all time.
I personally think both of these are guaranteed to surpass $3 Billion, however I only see ODY+BND surpassing $3.5 Billion.
So I personally would put my weight behind ODY+BND>Dp3+A:DD.
What do you guys think?

đď¸ Pre-Sales Have presales effected walkups negatively?
Now I donât really see much discussion about the evolution of cinemas, but nowadays if you want a ticket, the cinema chains encourages the use of online website.
Pre sales have exploded in popularity mostly due to connivence, you donât have to wait in a queue and you can snatch up the best seats as quickly as possible.
However Iâve always wondered what happens to those people who simply go to cinema via walkups, and get a ticket at the cinema till. I saw a family unable to book tickets at the till and simply headed home because they were all taken.
Do you think the demographic that grew up on walkups, mostly Gen x and Baby boomers who are unwilling to adapt to the new age of cinema simply just donât go to the cinema anymore due to presales.

âď¸ Original Analysis Do you think Digger will have that same weight as The Revenant did at the box office?
Now I know people are saying that "oh Digger is gonna be the next OBAA" or "it's gonna flop" which I don't agree with. Now I don't think it will make that kind of numbers that The Revenant did at the box office, but I do feel like it will break even (312-375), but I'm also hoping it will surpass the break even point at the box office because if you think about it. Tom Cruise last movies even if they were flops because of massive budgets due to covid and the strikes, but if you take that away Mission 7 and 8 would still be successes, and Tom Cruise is proof that he can still be a draw. Also his last original non Mission Impossible or Top Gun movie American Made was a box office success as 134 million with a 50 million dollar budget.
Also people forget about that the director's last american movie The Revenant came out a week after Force Awakens making 533 million at the box office with a budget more than Digger. That movie became a box office success so I don't know why people think differently about Digger? unless I'm missing something?

đĽ Streaming Data "Song Sung Blue" nets 1.9M views between its 3rd and 9th day on Netflix in the US, for its pay-2 window (Nielsen). Here's how it compares:
Jurassic World: Rebirth seems low but compared to the other titles, it did way bigger numbers in its first 2 days on Netflix. That's only showing day 3 to day 9 and "Song Sung Blue" missed the Nielsen Top 10 for its first 2 days on Netflix.

South Korea Na Hong-jinâs sci-fi thriller âHopeâ tops 1 million admissions in 3 days, fastest among 2026 films. The sci-fi thriller's emphatic debut marked the strongest opening of director Na Hong-jin's career as the film also earned praise from fellow directors.
>The cast includes Korean actors Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung and Jung Ho-yeon, along with Hollywood actors Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander and Taylor Russell portraying the alien beings.
>Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho praised the film during a post-screening audience discussion held at Megabox Coex in southern Seoul on Wednesday.
>"'What on earth did I just watch?' was my first thought,â Bong said. âOnce the thrill and cinematic shock settle, I have so many questions. It's an astonishing cinematic adventure.â
>Bong also thanked Na for his creative production.
>âWhere else are we ever going to see a film like this?â Bong said. âIt's a movie bursting with audacity and madness. As a fellow filmmaker, I'm sincerely grateful that you've given us such a spectacular vision of what cinema can be.â

Worldwide Why arenât box offices adjusted for inflation
Box office nerds will tell you that avatar which grossed 2.9 billion is the highest grossing film when it factually isnât gone with the wind made 4.5 billion when you adjust it for inflation literally everything is adjusted for inflation except the box office according to them Superman 2025(618 million) made more money than Superman 1978 (300 million) but when you adjust it for inflation you will know that Reeveâs superman made significantly more money (1.45 billion in todayâs money)

It would be a lot lower than Troy (2004). However, going to movie theaters was just a lot more popular in Germany back then and films. especially Blockbusters, were a lot more frontloaded back then.
