I wrote D&D adventures set in Mythological Finland
I'm happy to announce that "Songs from the Land of Kalevala" is out. The official release will be held at Ropecon 2026 next weekend. You can order yours early from my Backerkit Campaign or come say hi at Ropecon at desk D109.
The book includes five adventures set in Iron-Age Finland. The players will be able to:
- Defend their village from vikings
- Go on a search for Rohtotohtori, a mysterious herbalist
- Discover a mysterious winter with sinister origins tied to Pukki (Yes, that Pukki)
- Die and go to Tuonela
- Reenact the events of Kalevala and go steal the Sampo from the Pohjola
The book also includes rules for running a campaign in mythological Finland, and even tips for playing legendary heroes like Väinämöinen and Ilmarinen.
I also have designed miniatures such as Kokko, Iku-Turso, Ancient Finnish Ship and Väinämöinen himself. These you can also buy at Ropecon or as addons from my backerkit.
Finally, check out my new website supinaata.com I will use it as the primary tool of communication in the future. I will also post here on reddit on r/LandOfKaleva

Parking question
In this street are 4 parking spots. The two marked red are 4h 6-24 parking slots. While the two marked green do not have any such signs. Neither the sign on red marked areas specify the length (i.e 30m or whatever) that could have extended into green areas. So i was under the impression the 2 green boxes are open parking spots. However, I just saw today that one of the car parked in the green box with parking tickets. The tickets says
Virhe 1: Kellonajat: 6 - 24, Sallittu pysäköintiaika 4 h, Saapumisajaksi ilmoitettu 19:00. I wonder what am i missing.

If Sveaborg and svartholm had not fallen and if the Finns had won at Oravais, would Finland have won the Finnish war of 1808-09?

I'm nothing if not persistent
Following up on my recent post about growing / eating pikkujärvisimpukat: well, I found the mussels. They were nowhere to be found in the lake where the water column is too deep, but there's plenty of them in the lake's outlet stream that has a draft of 20cm tops. I found them while kayaking there, so I picked up a few in the boat and brought them back home.
I brushed them and rinsed them real good 4 or 5 times until nothing was hanging from them, the water ran clear and the whole kitchen stopped smelling of mud. Then I cooked them Belgian-style in white wine with cream, celery, garlic, shallots, butter, parsley, salt and pepper. Then I tasted them...
And... yeah, you can eat them. But you really don't want to. They're white and not very appealing, and the taste ranges from total absence of any flavor to a slight whiff of mud.
Kind of a waste of good ingredients. But hey, I gave it my best shot 🙂

How many Finnish civillians died in these conflicts, exactly? Couldnt find a number anywhere.
the great hatred 1700-1721 killed 30 000 Finns and the Little hatred 1741-1742 killed about 300.

Helsinki : free or axtremely cheap fabric scraps
Pretty much what the title says, I want to weave my own rag rug. If there's a place where I could gather fabrics, clothes, bedding, erc. before they're sent for recycling, or something along those lines.
Unfortunately, I moved recently and got rid of tons of stuff, so I don't have that many old fabric items to start with.

Serious Playing Music on speakers at the lake
What the spring break bulllshit is this? People blasting speakers with yksi kaksi kolme sauna at the lake beach while toddlers, kids and adults alike are trying to enjoy the sun and warm water a bit. Just a rant while in true finnish style no one including me said anything. Only nasty stares.

Who do you prefer as an architect? Eliel Saarinen best known for Helsinki’s central station and the National museum of Finland or Alvar Aalto famous for multiple modernist and functionalist buildings?
I personally prefer Saarinen a lot and I think he should be remembered much more.

How is mild autism (level 1) diagnosed in Finland?
Does your country use the DSM-V-TR? Wondering because my son in the US, a dual citizen with Finland (my mother is entirely Finnish), was diagnosed with level 1; however, much of the diagnostic criteria used seem to also describe a lot of Finnish men.
My son avoids eye contact and small talk, will sit quietly in a room if with others, eats bland food (and sticks to sthe same few options), and is introverted with the need for a lot of alone time to recharge after social interactions. He may misunderstand instructions or statements that are not literal, and miss nuance, but not always, and he still has a wry sense of humor.
He doesn't have strong "special interests" common to autism or speak like an encyclopedia. He functions better in routine. Bright lights can bother him and he keeps his room darkened, and he dislikes touch such as hugging, but he can handle being in noisy or crowded environments when travelling. He wore a hoodie throughout travel in Italy despite the 100F degree weather, and has less sensitivity to temperature.
He met all of his developmental milestones and is highly intelligent. His "stims" are whistling or snapping his fingers, something easily unnoticed.
He struggles with college academics despite intelligence, but this is due to some impairment in "executive function" - time management, juggling changing schedules, processing auditory over visual instruction, meeting deadlines. He would thrive in a job that is more analytical and without office politics.
All this to say -- is it possible that many unemployed Finnish young men who sit on their computers at home all day could actually have unrecognized autism? Is it possible that my son is simply Finnish?

Advice for how medical insurance works?
I know almost for certain (or it is at least highly likely) that I have either the innatentive type of Adhd or is just somehow on the autism spectrum. Ive read up on it and I present loads of traits, for example the stereotypical one where I have an extremely hard time to get something done if it isnt something that I find interesting or somethin that needs to be done and there is a direct sense of extreme urgency. Another one is that I often am in my own head and have a hard time focusing on what other people are trying to say to me. This is leading to some difficulties regarding my job and as such I need to get a diagnosis or at least some form of therapy.
Im not sure if I can take the waiting time in the public sector and so Im thinking of going private. I know that my dad has pretty good medical insurance for me through his job but I need to check what applies because Im a legal adult now. I havent really dealt with insurance companies before and so Im trying to prepare in advance. Is there anything I should know before I call the company? (Im pretty sure that it is fennia insurance if thats relevant somehow, though it could also be Lähitapiola).

How to get ozempic prescription?
I don’t have diabetes but can lose some weight to feel better and be able to run longer distances. My bmi is 31.5 so I’m officially obese. Are there any online clinics in Finland that would get me GLP-1 prescription? I would appreciate a recommendation.
