Viranomainen kielsi toiminnan harjoittamisen toistaiseksi. Päätöksen mukaan epäkohdat olivat vakavia ja voivat aiheuttaa vakavaa vaaraa ihmisten terveydelle.”

Hello!

Me and some friends are visiting Helsinki, but it's only for a short while. We are going to be 4 adults and 4 kids aged between 1 and 5, so my question is... What is a must do with kids? What do the locals do and what to stay away from!

We aregø.going further up north in Finland where we will have plenty of time to sauna and swim, so other things to do haha

Cheers and thanks in advance

Travel & Tourism Ideas for Helsinki

Hi everyone!

We've been in Helsinki for a few days and have already done most of the classic tourist attractions and museums. We're now looking for experiences that are a bit more local, unique, or simply things that visitors often miss.

We're happy to use the metro or local trains, but we'd prefer to stay within the Helsinki area rather than taking a day trip to places like Porvoo.

We're open to pretty much anything:

Hidden gems

Interesting neighborhoods to explore

Great cafés or restaurants with character

Scenic walks

Cool bookstores, markets, or small shops

Beautiful viewpoints

Anything quirky or unexpectedly fun

What would you recommend to someone who feels they've already seen the "must-see" sights?

Thanks in advance!

Question Welding services

Hi,

Does anyone knows any repair shop that is focus on welding aluminium in the capital area?

I need to fill a couple of hole that I did in the boat engine (thermostat area) by trying to remove the bolts that snapped in. 🥺🥺

There is 3 holes to fill by welding and re-do the thread where the bolts goes. The holes are like 6 mm wide.

Probably the job itself does not require many hours but I need somebody that can be reliable and let the area clean and we'll done.

Housing / Living Better area for my Erasmus studies? Kanavakatu 9 or Leppävaara ?

Hello everyone,

just a quick simple question - which area is better for my erasmus studies for this winter semester?

Kanavakatu 9 or Leppävaara ?

Kanavatku is for 550eur and Leppävaara a bit cheaper for 500eur - both for a single room with a flatmate charges included, is that a good price? What else should I check/sign/pay since both offers are from random facebook people?

Right now for me it seems like Kanavakatu is better since it's more in the centre and almost same distance from my school.

Thanks for any advice!

Question Salmon soup

Hi!

I'm coming back to Finland after a few years, and I remember often visting Kappeli for lohikeitto - but I can't find any information about their soup of the day serving - is lohikeitto served as soup of the day only on weekends, or also on fridays? I know they serve it in the a-la-carte section, but I'm specifically wondering for the cafe part of Kappeli.

Are there any other places you would suggest to show some friends visiting Finland for the first time? I know Fisken pa disken is also great, but I remember Kappeli being one of my favorites.

I found Cafe Engel or Café Esplanad should also be great.

Travel & Tourism Hiking in Urho Kekkonen National Park

Hi, I am going on a 5-day backpack hike around Saariskelka. I am planning to do the following: Day 1 Kiilopää – Suomunruoktu- Tuiskukuru – Kotaköngäs lean-to shelter – Rautulampi tent – Kiilopää.

  1. Do I need to bring water or are there enough water points along the way? I have a waterfilter.

  2. Do I make reservations for the huts on this route?

Thanks, Vera

Discussion media student who could understand the opening sequence

I'm working on the opening sequence ( 30-50 secs) of a documentary about the history of Finland and the places we visit throughout the country.
theme of opening sequene - is tour guide explaining the things to me

The documentary follows me and a local tour guide as we travel across Finland, with the tour guide explaining the history, culture, and significance of each location.

For the opening sequence, I want to feature a musician performing traditional Finnish music on stage in some festival. The sequence begins with scenic shots of people dancing in the festival. As the music builds, the musician appears on screen performing.

The film then transitions to the tour guide. The music continues as background score while the tour guide dialogues apears with his footage . The focus alternates between the musician's performance and the tour guide's narration, with the music moving to the background whenever the dialogue is heard.
(see it as musician playing - tour guide speak- musican plays - tour guide explain...... 40 second )

The opening ends with the documentary title appearing on screen: FINLAND in large bold text, with Seppo in smaller text beneath it. The music concludes as the title fades out, and the real journey of documentary begins.

I'm new to editing, but I'm learning Adobe Premiere Pro and believe I can create this sequence with by watching videos

. I'd like to know What is this style of opening called? Are there any documentaries or films with a similar introduction that I could study? I really need guidance on how to structure and edit this sequence effectively. I am a student and spending my saving for this hobby project i will really appreciate if someone could guide me small or big. Thanks

Question Help Motorcycle Luggage System Stolen

Post image
49 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My Friend and I are currently travelling to Nordkapp from Austria on our Motorcycle. Last night we finally arrived in Helsinki and spent the night in the CheapSleep Hostel. During the night the luggage system of my friend got stolen from his bike (only the system/rack, we still have the luggage and the bikes). Without the system it is hardly possible to continue the trip in either direction, as why I am seeking help here.

The system used is the V-Duro 60l from Red Mamut/Red Koyot (they have two different names). We still got the drybags.

We plan on going to the police, but our hopes aren't high so I have the following questions for you guys:

- What places do people in Helsinki use to sell their stuff?

- Do you know a store or someone who would sell us this system?

- Incase you know someone with the system, would it be okay for us to take theirs and order them a new one?

- Do you know any black market/thief groups where stolen goods get sold in Helsinki?

The bike used is a Husqvarna Fe 450 2017, if you know stores that sell other systems that can be used on this bike or have one yourself/know someone, then please also contact me.

If you know any other forums or people that could help us, please also tell us.

I hope you guys can help us! Thanks in advance!

PS: I attached a picture of the system on my bike, so you can compare

Update: Thanks to everyone for your help regarding the situation! For now we bought a backpack to fit all the stuff and strapped one bag to the bike. Depending on how this works out, we will be shipping a new one to us during the trip.

Discussion What kind of tourist experience is Helsinki missing?

I have been livin in Helsinki my whole life, and it got me thinking about the city’s tourism scene, which seems to be growing all the time.

We already have great restaurants, bars, museums and saunas, but what do you think is still missing?

I’m especially thinking more about indoor experiences/cultural experiences for early evenings or rainy days that aren’t just restaurants, museums, saunas or nightlife.

Work & Education Looking to become a HYROX coach

Hey everyone,

I'm 33 and have been living in Helsinki for almost 10 years. In my free time I'm a hybrid athlete, and I've realized I'd love to turn it into a career.

I'd like to become a HYROX coach, but I'm not a qualified PT yet. What's the most logical path? PT certification first, then HYROX coaching, or is there another route?

Would love to hear from anyone who's been through the process, especially in Finland. Tips on what other communities would be better to share are most welcome!

Gladly buy coffee if you think you can help me.

Discussion Structural engineer for change the permit of use of place

hello, recently I bought a commercial place in the center city of a small town near Helsinki .Earlier it was used as an HVAC contractor office. Now i want to use it as a takeaway restaurant.I gave notice to Housing society for renovation. However I'm not doing any structural changes. Before the HVAC contractors office it was a Cafe so the place is suitable for the kitchen but the housing society instruct me to provide the name of structural engineer and also to change the permit of use as a restaurant. Is there anybody who can guide me on this ? or provide a reference to a structural engineer? I contacted many engineers through the company all on summer vacation. Is there any freelance structural engineer who can guide and provide the professional services with guidance? I want to start my restaurant activities from the 1st of August 2026. I'm totally clueless now your help means a lot on the matter 🙏
