u/NeverLookBothWays I voted 16h ago
We’re not fighting back hard enough. The courts are not capturing the follow through of law enforcement. The coup is going to largely succeed with the help of a corrupted executive and judicial branch and we’ll watch it happen like we have the past power grabs. We’re barely talking about the anomalies of the 2024 election.
We will win some seats however. We need to be very sure we elect Dems who are willing to stand up to fascism and articulate well the long game the right is playing. AOC has been decent at this, along with various others…mostly it is the progressives stepping up to that plate. I don’t think we’re turning things around on election interference and fraud this year however…there needed to be much more movement on that front back in January.

Americans have forgotten what the Second Amendment was created for for, nor do we take our duties seriously.
From the Declaration of Independence:
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Then by all means, lead the way.
There are many people who would step up if there was a leader with a coherent plan to use force (or the threat of it) in taking back our country. No such leader exists, or if they do, they lack influence to mobilize enough people for their plan to succeed.
Where is this generation's John Brown? I've been looking but I don't see him/her.
180
u/Gekokapowco Washington 15h ago
Che talks about this in one of his books, and I think about it. There is no "starting point" no "leader to fall behind" to start resistance. If you want resistance you have to make it from nothing and that is difficult. This is coming from a guy who could build a popular revolution in the rural peripheries, supported by the people around him. Guerillas survive on the generosity of the local population who support them.
That being said, I cannot believe my unarmed, soft, office bound ass is the closest possible person to start like, raiding an ICE facility. There has to be someone out here that has access to better resources, training, and wants this more than me. Statistically. I'm not going to be a martyr, named an insane lone wolf. I'm not throwing away what little scraps I can make of my life for an ungrateful cause.
It feels like the barrier to entry for him was so much lower, and it feels weird and selfish to say. I don't have the religious fervor to say that throwing my life away means more to me than the time I can spend with my loved ones, the good I can do for this world with my kindness and understanding, not being grist for a war.
95
u/Bigbigbigrock 15h ago
Resistance is more than just killing. It's delivering messages, it's dropping off food, it's donating tools and supplies to groups who as you say, have less to lose. Do you think every soldier in every army goes to the front? You can do plenty, even if it's just donating to groups doing more. ICE watch groups are funded by donations.
→ More replies (3)27
u/Plastic_Salary_4084 14h ago

raiding an ... facility
Doesn't have to be such a dramatic start. Fear is powerful.
Make the oppressors and tyrants afraid, and suddenly the fleeting thrill of unmerited empowerment just isn't worth the squeeze.
7
u/ThunderDungeon02 11h ago
The power is in numbers. But holding angrily worded signs and putting dildos on fences in DC does not invoke fear. The numbers were there but it was useless. And violence isn't necessary but as Dennis would say "it's the implication". Remember ICE, and every agency like them are just regular people collecting a paycheck. The tide isn't going to turn until you make them question if that check is worth it. That is one option. The other is financial. You buy necessities only. But same idea, has to be done by millions. Collapse industries. The powers that be will remove them then. That's it. By electing this idiot again, there are no other options...or do nothing and it will just get worse.

The actual time to fight back was in 2024, in 2022, 2018, and a 2016 and even further back. However, the broader left has spent that entire time fighting amongst itself instead of being focused on fighting the opposing political ideology. Yeah that's exactly what we all thought he was going to do. Start a war and then invent some excuse to cancel or manipulate the election process.
It's the exact "worst nightmare scenario for America."
We warned you all: Their plan is to break up America and appoint themselves the kings and queens of the pieces... They're traitors to the country...
All they do is attack America and Americans... How do people not see that they're a bunch traitors to the country?
Apparently everything that is going on in America is bad, except what they do, and all they do is step on Americans...
It's completely absurd that people don't see the current administration as exactly what it is: A fascist coup.

There will be many crimes committed to ensure republicans stay in power. Any who are caught criming in Trumps name has a pardon waiting for them. Unless states take measures to protect themselves from the feds it’s going to be impossible for any kind of free or fair election.
I would like to see UN election monitors to witness the election and give some kind of sense of legitimacy to the results.

Multiple states have republican governments and they have demonstrated that they will do what their
partycult asks them to do.Yes, blue states won't play along, but there are too many red states and there is a real chance to flip seats, they will try to cheat on those seats.
That is enough power to me. The US needs multiple changes and for that to happen we need a functioning democracy, which we don't have... And this administration keeps trying to make it as functional as Trump's continency.
This is a giant pile of doo-doo.

If red states don't want to hold elections they don't have to. The terms for representatives from those districts will still expire and their seats will then be empty in Congress.
Not exactly gna help them keep their majority.
Blue states aren't going to voluntarily suspend their elections and elections are not under the control and organisation of the federal government. Either the administration allows blue states to have their elections or the US enters the second civil war.

It's an attempt to normalise it before it happens. Start with a sort of vague description and then once the 'debate' starts you start saying 'oh well ok, there's a debate, so some people agree...etc etc'. But the overall aim is to make people think this is just normal, just business as usual - they are doing this for their side as you do in politics, its not some fundamental shift. Russian playbook.

Take it another level, they have been freaking out about communists for a few weeks now because like the rest of us they see that the left is actually moving to the left. That’s yuge because it’s not only the traditional dems potentially controlling congress, it’s an angry, younger, aggressive, more representative group starting to win the primary’s right now.

No, we're using 6 years of evidence of this man not shutting the fuck up about the 2020 election, including the SAVE Act that dipshit is going to try and push tonight.

Let’s go to the rule book:
Article 1; Section 4: Elections
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

As if they have followed the constitution at all this time

u/ofWildPlaces 16h ago
We must follow it even if they choose not to. The elections are up to us, not them.

Trump got pissed off about something and now wants to make a speech ranting and raving about how pissed off he is about that thing. Some news article his staffers accidentally let him see mentioned that he lost 2020, and so now he's back on that fucking tirade. So now it's gotta be all of our problems, and the most his staffers can do is try to legitimize whatever insane shit he's about to spout like it has any basis in reality or semblance of reasonable thought and coherency, he tries to do a few things illegally and some judges tell him no, and then he bitches and rants and raves but he's already moved on to bitching about something else.
Like someone above me mentioned, he does this all the time. "OH THIS SPEECH IS GONNA BE THE BIG ONE" and then it's just 45 minutes of Trump slurring his words and rambling about 40 things at once until eventually he just gets tired and shuffles off.

He can announce as many "adjustments" as he wants. States control elections.

Let's just split the US from Texas to North Carolina and everyone gets a year to move to the side they want. North gets socialism, South gets Fuhrer Trump.
I would love to see how they last longer than a week without a minority group to blame all of their insecurities on.

Hmm adjusting votes by fractions of how legitimate someone feels they are?
I've heard of a compromise like this before.. something around 3/5?

The federal government doesn't have a say in elections. That's very clearly stated in the Constitution.

She might be the most obnoxious person the universe have ever brought upon itself. Absolutely insufferable human being. The fact she is allowed to breed should be criminal.

The planned raid of democracy is nigh.
Just grab it by the pussy. When you're president they let you do that.

So executive order to rig the midterms
18
u/angrybox1842 16h ago
He’s literally already tried that, I think there’s at least 2 voter ID executive orders winding their way through the courts and nothing is changing because states run elections.

Dumb af to hold seats they were elected to and still be claiming the election was rigged. If it was rigged, you got your spot fraudulently.

Donald Trump and his allies filed 62 lawsuits in state and federal courts in their attempt to contest and overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
It’s ironic that only Trump lost the election but not any members of congress.
This entire drama is a smokescreen to erode public confidence in the elections and to restrict citizens from voting.
If Trump truly supported free and fair elections, he wouldn’t have fired the election assistance commission.

He has no constitutional authority to adjust anything about elections.

Election “adjustments” coming from one man, not Congress or the state legislatures that are supposed to actually run elections. We are in the middle stage of fascism. Not yet full fascism, but well on our way.

My guess Trump will announce some bomb shell accusation about voter fraud in Georgia in 2020 based off ballots they seized. Nothing we will ever see proof of, just speculation, fabrication and gaslighting from this mythomaniac.

Friendly reminder here that Trump is the mouthpiece. The billionaires, Christian nationalists, and Republican party are pulling the strings. If the party didn't like where this was going they could have him out of office immediately.

If you don’t vote this Midterms because you think “well my vote won’t matter anyway!” or stay home for any other reason that you’re deathly ill, or aren’t eligible to vote, or you’re just a lazy lump, or you “don’t care about politics,” you’re a fucking useless idiot. There, I said it, that’s it. Do not let them scare you into not voting!!

u/Ummmgummy 12h ago
The guy has been saying 2020 was rigged for 6 years basically on a daily basis. And yet he's never once proved a single piece of evidence. I doubt he will have anything to say besides "whaaa whaaa whine whine " same old shit. No idea how this fucking moron has any followers still

This is really why Trump resumed the war. He’s got it in his little smooth pea-brain that if he causes enough turmoil, there’s simply not enough ability to pause a war to hold an election. He saw Russia attack Ukraine, and when Zelenskyy was asked at the White House why he hasn’t held an election due to the war, Trump said something like “I guess if you’re in war you don’t have to do it”
Now he wants to make sure we are in war so he can have as long as possible without facing consequences for his actions. He’s a traitor. A dictator. A disgrace. A pedophile rapist. A war criminal.
Where are our representatives in all this??

u/MoulanRougeFae 14h ago
We held elections during the Civil War. His bullshit won't stop elections. Maybe tonight the reaper will visit him while he's blubbering and shitting himself on tv. That would be good

u/shagadelicrelic 16h ago
He's going to tell everyone how they're going to finish off democracy in America tonight. Once they completely take over the midterms, we'll never have to vote again because we won't able to or it just won't matter anymore. Good job to everyone who sat out in '24 and to all of the miserable fucks that voted for it, you killed America
