PoliticsPH PAX SILICA: Bakit natin kailangan suportahan to

Post image
0 Upvotes

  1. Ano ang Pax Silica?
  • Isa siyang US-led initiative para mag secure ng global supply chain for AI, semiconductors, Rare Earth and minerals.

    • Ang BCDA (Bases Conversion and Development Authority) ay isang Philippine government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) na may mandato na i-transfrom mga former US military bases at idle government lands na maging centers of economic growth
  1. Hindi lang iisang AI data center ang Pax Silica kundi may kasama tong supporting infrastructure tulad ng rail and port modernization, clean or new energy sources, semiconductor manufacturing hubs, mineral processing, digital connectivity, etc;

A) Mineral processing:

B) Manufacturing:

C) Talent:

  • Para maghanda ng wokforce, nakikipag-coordinate ang BCDA kasama ang University of the Philippines, TESDA at Stanford University para dito. Nag sign rin sila ng agreement kasama ang US State Department para tulungan yung mga sumali sa Pax Silica initiative na mag develop AI talent and workforce programs.

D) Energy:

International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) na nag approve funding for a feasibility study para sa isang proposed liquefied natural gas terminal and power plant that na kayang mag generate around 1,200 megawatts.

E) Water:

F) Immunity:

“No special arrangement to be accorded to the US government,” Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president and CEO Joshua Bingcang told reporters during the unveiling of the marker for the planned AI hub.

2) Bottom line:

  • Dapat natin suportahan ang Pax Silica dahil napakaraming benefits na makukuha ng Pilipinas if nag push through to. Hindi lang mag iimprove and strategic alliance natin kasama ang US at Japan, maraming rin trabaho at improvements sa infrustructure madadala nito na makakatulong sa pag develop ng LEC at para bumalik ang Pilipinas bilang the "Rising Tiger of Asia"

GovtServicesPH Ganito ba talaga health insurance?

For casting my right ankle I was quoted 6k for casting my right ankle in a non hmo affiliated center.

Since I got a healthcard mas pinili ko na pumunta sa hmo affiliated na hospital and lo and behold the total bill went up to 33k

idk if the reason why it went so much is because the doctor used 3 rolls of fiber glass for casting pero normal lang ba yon? sa may right ankle lang naman problema pero pati binti ko sinama sa casting and maski yung billing hindi covered lahat ng hmo card ko and kelangan pa kunin sa philhealth more than half para wala na ako bayaran

Yes it is this deep. Yun lang bye thanks!

SocmedPH Another Band-Aid Solution and Selective Beneficiary

Post image

Genuine question: What about ordinary taxpayers?

The people who work hard, pay taxes, and contribute every single day. We keep funding these programs, yet it feels like we’re always the last to benefit.

Why not invest more in public transportation and better roads instead? Even if it doesn’t solve everything overnight, at least it could ease the daily commute that millions of Filipinos endure every single day.

Instead of short-term fixes that only benefit a select group, why not prioritize long-term solutions that improve the quality of life for everyone?

CulturePH Goth/Punk subculture in the Philippines, specifically Davao?

Hello, American here! I am planning to go to the Philippines next year and have been looking at places to go to.

I am goth and quite love goth culture, and thought it would be cool to check out a goth scene in another country, so I was hoping to find goth clubs and events in Davao, but I haven't been able to find any.

Anyone know of any popular places to go to? Or any bands to keep an eye on to see if they will be performing by the time I visit? Also, dumb question, is goth called anything else in Bisaya/the local language? Maybe that could be why I am having trouble finding anything online.

Thank you!

ArtPH The Glass Fields of MTerra

Post image
17 Upvotes

Based on Ezra Acayan's photoset of MTerra's massive solar farms, aiming to be one of the largest in the world. With roughly 3,500 hectares of land covered in Nueva Ecija, the project is the center of a debate on how these lands are really supposed to be used: are we supposed to stick to our roots on cultivating the land with the local communities or do we harness the potential to cater our ever growing demand for energy? With all of these concerns needing attention, the answer seems far from simple.

I know na malaki talaga ang gap economically and militarily between the two countries. Are there really no other options our government can take instead of releasing these statements na parang wala namang effect on China?

Edit: I don't know why some sounded triggered, sarcastic replies at war agad ang nasa isip. Genuine question 'to out of frustration, lalo na after seeing that recent racist video produced by one of China's state controlled or owned media. Still, i appreciate the replies that gave me more insight on this matter.

PoliticsPH Several Points from the Racist Video not Raised

Filipinos are depicted as monkeys. That's what Westerners called Asians, including Chinese. They did the same to Africans.

Filipinos are performing on a "wobbly karaoke stage", and it's wobbly because their two masters--the U.S. and Japan--play both sides. They want delimitation talks, which allow them to exploit the WPS, but want the Philippines to engage in arbitration, which does not allow China to exploit the WPS.

The stage is also wobbly because the U.S. and Japan can't provide enough military aid for better platforms.

Most Filipinos don't want the country to form military pacts with other countries, including the U.S., and instead become more independent. But based on its economy it needs aid from other countries, and those countries always provide aid with strings attached.

One of the main trading partners of the U.S., Japan, and the Philippines is China. The main trading partners of China include the U.S. and Japan. China is said to be the top trading partner of 120 countries. This explains why the U.S. and Japan don't want to confront China directly while stating that they support international rule of law.

Sidenote: The third major trading partner of China is Vietnam. Vietnam states that it sides with the Philippines concerning the WPS but has the most structures in the WPS. The top two trading partners of Vietnam are China and the U.S.

Filipinos are depicted as puppets because they have to sing what their masters order them to do so. In the video, the Filipino monkey sings the wrong song (delimitation talks instead of arbitration), and his masters throw him off the rickety platform.

In surreal fashion, the monkey is water-hosed by Chinese militia, and then falls into the ocean, together with his arbitration script handed to him by his masters. A whale picks up the paper, hands it back to the monkey, and tells viewers to avoid littering.

The main polluters of those oceans include China. In other parts of the world, they include the U.S. And for a time one of the main hunters of whales included Japan. And the one trying to preserve the environment in the WPS is the Philippines.

GovtServicesPH Domestic abuse hotlines with chat support?

Hello. Are there any local domestic abuse hotlines or organizations I can reach out to that offer chat support? I can't make phone calls because I'm currently in an unsafe environment and have no privacy at home. 19F who has been experiencing abuse from my father since childhood. I don't have anyone I can turn to.

I've considered reaching out to one of my professors since she's a guidance associate but I'm not sure if she'll be able to help beyond concerns that fall within the school.

May dalawa akong anak at araw-araw nandun palagi yung pangamba sakin.

Pakiramdam ko wala naman talagang pake yung mga DDS sa biktima ng krimen, mas may pake lang sila sa naratibo nilang anti-crime si Duterte, when in the first place, he was a criminal all throughout his presidency and while he was a mayor in Davao.

They don't realize that they can be an anti-crime advocate without being a Duterte supporter. The propaganda machinery has poisoned the minds of the Filipinos. Hammering these lies until it becomes their version of truth.

What's more maddening? VP Sara's satisfaction rate has gone up to +31 from +29. Wow. Unbelievable. A politician who is facing allegations of corruption is still getting positive numbers? How can this be? Nakakadismaya.

Less 100 pero 70 payment for processing? So all this para maka save mg 30pesos? Please enlighten me po.

PoliticsPH 2001, when an impeachment trial just basically altered our viewing habits…

[Post was revised to comply with the subreddit rules]

[Before anything else, I’m aware that paliit na talaga ng paliit yung revenues ng TV, and ads weren’t as valuable as it was during the time the video was made)

As much as yknow, alam naman natin yung obvious realities sa TV now, I think it would be quite better if talagang covered siya thoroughly ng main TV networks ‘no, like how US still covers their impeachment trial. Aside from observing na nabobore na agad yung tao sa impeachment, parang iilan lang talaga yung parang aware sa kung ano yung gravitas/effect nito sa public since this was only covered mainly through online.

I mean, at the end of the day, kahit nagdwindle na siya, may numbers pa rin ng populasyon natin that mainly consumes content on TV pa rin, and tbh, with how things are going, medyo malapit na siyang maging afterthought sa newscasts, considering the cycle (haha🥲).

I always take Grab to and from work, and I always turn on Quiet Mode. Introvert kasi ako, and I really don't enjoy small talk.

Today, on my way home, I got a polite driver and the conversation started naturally. My usual route passes by the ongoing PNR construction, so he mentioned how delayed the project was. I already knew that, syempre naman. Whether that's true or not, the project has been delayed since Digong time.

I usually avoid political conversations with strangers, but he kept going. He talked about how the Philippines supposedly missed its chance to become a wealthy country because of the delays in the PNR and the subway. Yun daw kase sana mag aahon saten sa hirap, kasama yung iba pang build build build project na pinatigil daw ni BBM.

He continued by saying that this would be the last time the country would suffer because BBM's term is almost over.

Then came the plot twist.

According to him, the one person who is not corrupt and the country's greatest hope...

...is Sara Duterte.

At that point, I simply stopped responding, looked out the window, and pretended to fall asleep.
