I'm proud of my country. Norwegian team made history in World Cup, even our government praised them. We are happy what our country achieved this year.
I love the support and attention we got recently, I'm a bit concerned the amount of Americans here. Seeing all the posts where they copy our viking row, some Americans claim to be Norwegian and idolize our culture because its cool. What do you think?

Just saw this video and was really shocked. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/uN19rsjYBBY?feature=share
We all saw this world cup match btw Brazil and Norway and obv this team is not the same as the one they had back in 2000s so it was not that shocking but man still they never have beaten Norway in their history? With all the legends?

Is there something in the norwegian culture, something that many Norwegians say or do in daily life, that you don't understand? What is it?
And can you say if you are Norwegian or moved to Norway?

I declared this and another similar damage inside the bathroom of a hybel i was renting. What made the damage was the knob you get from IKEA to hang your towels on. They ended up falling off and creating this damage.
I've moved out and we're now in the discussion of getting my deposit back. My ex landlord is saying that it'll cost 4500kr. I swear it should be less than 1000kr.
Had an amazing relationship with my old landlord but am I getting fucked over here? The damages are the size of a thumbnail.

Howdy from across the pond! I am an American with a rather strange request. Bit of a long shot, and I'm not certain if I am breaking any sub rules or not. If so, I understand completely, my apologies in advance.
So straight to the point. I'm based out of Michigan USA and I have been a longtime music lover and physical collector for most of my life. One of the earlier segways into "my" own music taste was from a regional band named "Downface" it really struck a chord with me through my teenage years. I've always desired to have their debut album on CD. Which unfortunately due to obscurity is increasingly rare in the States. I have looked far and wide for 8+ years now and for the first time I've found a copy online!
The catch? The CD listing is on the Norwegian exclusive marketplace Finn.no and unfortunately as an American I am unable to buy it and ship it here.
Now this is where I would humbly ask for some assistance in this matter. If anyone is willing or able to deal with me privately to help secure this, I would be ETERNALLY grateful. I am more than happy to cover the upfront costs + shipping + some extra for the troubles. As this album really does mean a lot to me and I'd love the chance to own one after almost a decade on the hunt. I would pay via PayPal G&S ofc.
If you're a kind soul out there who'd be willing to help please reach out! Thank you so much.
P.S. My sincere apologies for the World Cup loss and the current American government.

Hi all,
I am working in procurement in the renewable energy sector in Norway for 2 years now.
I like my current job, but I'm thinking long-term and want to understand the landscape better.
If I ever had to pivot, which industries would you consider the safest bets in Norway right now, both in terms of job security over the next 30 years ?
Of course it is difficult to know what will happens in the next 30 years (AI lay off, new industry / technology, etc)
Thanks!

He was absolutely amazing. Saved so many great goals from opponents. Charismatic and a family man. Where's his global superstar status? He deserves to be a global superstar!!!!

Hello and good morning.
So Im working currently in a hotel in the lofoten islands as a cook. I love the hikes, the nature and the job is good, but not having a gym near and living in a staff house is killing me. I dont really enjoy the "hippie" lifestyle.
I thought Oslo at first but I have seen they dont actually have that many known restaurants? apparently Stavanger has way more bib gourmands and michelin starred places. Also it seems way too busy for me, too many people. My plan is to go there, start in any decent restaurant and then enter one of those michelin starred ones.
Does anyone have experience working as a chef or in the hospitality industry in Stavanger? Im also interested in the cost of living, how hard is to find accomodation, is it a fully furnished city or does it lack a lot of things?

Hey there, I'm here in Norway for a month for a short academic program and I've been approached by beggars 3 different times in the past weeks. Firstly Norway is really lovely and beautiful and very expensive hah but I love it. Anyway I was in a mall the 1st time it happened, a guy with a picture of what I assume is his family approached me, he didn't speak English or Norwegian, anyway I thought that the encounter was super random, I said to him that I didn't have cash and he pointed to an ATM sort of machine and kept following me around. I thought that was weird. Today while having lunch in a different mall, an old lady approached me, and I had spare change but she didn't leave after I gave it to her instead she asked for some of my food, I gave her a piece of chicken but she asked for more plus fries and wanted to use my dip as well, which is where I drew the line. But it was still a very odd encounter. She left after eating and another guy came in like 10 minutes later with a picture this time. I just said no, anyway my question is basically is this normal. Or I'm having outlier experiences. Also side note since I'm a student I definitely don't look or seem wealthy at all, I'm not even white, dunno if that's a factor either.
Edit/ update Not sure if this is how it's done, thank you for all the responses, I know now that ignoring is the best thing I can do and that the begging is most likely disingenuous and scam related.
How gas prices work in Norway? I was going around multiple gas stations during morning and when I was comming back, all the prices was like 2 NOK more. Happend to me multiple times. Are Norwegian gas station cheaper in the morning? Because few years ago when I was working in Norway, it was changing based on days of weeks.
Or I don’t know. This system is for me very confusing lol, can somebody please tell me when is best time to go for diesel?

I mean looking at the match events , argentina would be debatable but spain seems like a really strong contender what do you think? Would semi or finals would be last thing they would reach without winning any trophy?
There would have been a golden boot chance for haaland tho
Do u think if their team solves the management issue and brings better chemistry, then they can beat everyone at the euro cup easily? 2028

I saw this indie publishing site (its italian) and I was wondering if there's a known similar alternative to it in Norway?
Here's the site: https://www.kudoseditore.com/
If there is a similar site, I want to publish stuff I make in the future.
Hej!👋
I was looking on car manufacturers’ websites in Norway and it’s seems like 99% of newly produced cars are electric or hybrid.
It got me wondering if petrol cars are even an option at all anymore in Norway? If they are, are there any downsides of owning a petrol car vs buying an electric/hybrid? (tax, costs). Also, what is the infrastructure like for supporting the ownership of electric cars!
Would appreciate your answers!

Heisann! I’m an American with Norwegian heritage and I grew up knowing some Norwegian through videos, but I want to be fluent or at least conversational. I want to practice the language and talk about my interests in Norwegian, but IDK what sub(s) would allow me to do that without it being off-topic or nonsensical or whatever. Tusen takk!
