I live in the Southern part of Ontario, the second-largest province in Canada. My mom called me outside, I smelled smoke. She informed me of a V large forest fire in Northern Ontario (😮🔥).

Is this the one caused by some idiots lighting fireworks directly into dry grass claiming to honor someone else who drowned?

So, stupid question. If you were fleeing a wildfire, would motorboating out to the middle of a lake like this and just waiting it out work? Or would you be screwed anyway?

The fires in question are around the Thunder Bay Area, which is on Lake Superior. Lake Superior is in essence a freshwater sea. They could escape this wildfire easily by traveling east to Marathon, or ideally, south towards Duluth, Minnesota. If it was on a smaller lake then no, it would not work, because the fires will last longer than the people on the boat would, unless it’s a houseboat stocked up on food, medicine and plenty of clean potable water.
