💬Discussion The way Romero handled that pressure was unreal. 🥶🔝 Absolute ice in his veins.

I have seen lots of football but never something like this...I gotta salute his cool and calmness

u/ResponsibleVoice7411 Argentina 12h ago
First time watching football detected.
Even goalies do that kind of things, its actually quite common. Strikers never expect it.

u/_LoneWolfOfSonaiya 8h ago
Yeh, at this point, the Cabo Verde glazers are annoying... every damn post they are there with this kinda stuff... seriously... lol
2
u/ResponsibleVoice7411 Argentina 6h ago
Oh Vozinha Vozinha best goalie ever he stopped 2 shots and dribbled a striker, cabo verde best team ever 🤡

u/VTuck21 11h ago
Check out Cabo Verde's goalie vs Argentina
2
u/ResponsibleVoice7411 Argentina 6h ago
Well yeah its something quite common. I've seen Julian Alvarez scoring 4 times against goalies doing that thing. Back in 2009-11 My club had a goalie who was an expert doing that shit. He did it every game it was annoying

this is the kind of technical skill that separates a top top team like argentina from england, yet english fans will always try to tell you that its the coaches’ fault, whether its in 2006, 2018 or yesterday
7
u/ResponsibilityBest43 18h ago
Not believing that Tuchel isn't at fault for parking the bus is delusional. They were in a leading position and blew it entirely by handing over control of the game to Messi. Ask yourself one question: prior to the parking of the bus, which team looked more likely to win the game?
20
u/ParalimniX 18h ago
Someone commented on a different post that for around 15 minutes the English team had one successful pass. Like blame the coach all you want but it's not his fault if the players forgot how to even make a pass.
6
-2
u/ResponsibilityBest43 18h ago
Figure out if that 15 mins was before or after Tuchel upended the tactics that led to England leading 1-0 so we can determine if that's a relevant point.
6
u/ParalimniX 18h ago edited 17h ago
Bro even if the manager switches to some 10-0-0 formation not being able to make a few passes is just such a failure upon the players. Sure parking the bus might not lead to high scoring opportunities aside from maybe some counter-attacks but that doesn't mean that you suddenly can't even take possession of the ball for such a long stretch of time.
4
u/dazhubo Argentina 18h ago
Upended the tactics 🤣🤣
The English need tactics to pass a ball to a teammate, everybody
5
u/subtlemosaic9 16h ago
The depths these losers will dig down for excuses is the exact inverse to the depth to which they'll dig down and fight for a match on the pitch. Their pathetic whining and excuses have been wild to witness. By far the biggest baby bitch team and supporters of the entire cup.
2
u/BondiolaSerpenteante 11h ago
It's annoying because if it was the other way around, we will be hearing how the obviously superior English team, outplayed Argentina. How all the stats like the 12% of possession showed the utter dominance of the English team. But here? We hear how absolutely all of that it's the fault of the german coach. It's pathetic.
But let them have this attitude, they are the ones who need to live in delulu land, lying between each other to stay there. Admitting defeat it's brave, and they can't do it.
0
u/BigFatModeraterFupa 14h ago
exactly. that's why i wish norway made it out, and they would've if that goal wasn't called back.
norway vs argentina would've been a legendary match, but instead we got bellendham and harry "billboard forehead" kane
8
u/cjennings1970 17h ago
I only was able to watch the last 25 minutes and my father asked me if England was down 2 men. He couldn't understand why England would just lay back and let Argentina spend the last half hour of the match on what looked like a hockey power play.
8
7
u/subtlemosaic9 16h ago
which team looked more likely to win the game?
Argentina before the match ever started. England never stood a chance of getting that match. They get gassed out, don't have the speed, agility or skills to keep up with a team like Argentina. England barely made it past Mexico. Argentina is 3 levels above Mexico.
Argentina played every opponent like a cat and mouse game. They were never flustered by a goal or two. They know when to kick it into gear. It's after they allow the opponent to run themselves and get frustrated.
England didn't know who the fuck they were playing. They were never making it through that match with a win.

Thats almost Rene Higuita level trolling.
I think he'll only realize how risky that was when he sees a video of it.

u/Primary_Bee_43 15h ago
i don’t think he was trolling I think he actually had to pull that off lmao

u/Necessary_Mention_20 Argentina 15h ago
Cuti knows that we like to suffer... he wanted to add his own heart-attack-inducing moment.
Every Argentine player has to mandatorily do one at some point.
is their way of showing their love for the people and fans.

Of course he plays like god for Argentina against my national team, but for my club team he's an absolute donkey who can't hold up the ball for shit and gets kicked out of every other game for a stupidly crap tackle.

I think his level dropped in the last year, he clearly wants to leave the club... in previous years he was excellent.

I think that because of the injury he was a bit slow and didn't wanted to risk the world cup.

Genuinely thought he was lagging for a second with how still he stood. Coldest defender in the game.

the referee should have just ended the game at 80 minutes so that england could win
1
u/Real_Wrongdoer_4488 4h ago
umm btw anyone else here thinks that the borrowed time after the extra time was way too much ? i mean added time was like 9 mins ? and they dragged it past 12 mins ?
i dnt remember having time been wasted on anything too much during the stoppage time
1
u/Ok-Section-1224 4h ago
There were 2 substitutions and Argentina's second goal celebrations took a while.
That's probably why the ref dragged it past +9
1
u/Real_Wrongdoer_4488 2h ago
i guess that sounds fair but 4 min extra seemed a bit extra to me , 2 mins would have sufficed i guess, well anyway refs decision is an ultimatum and they know more than us abt the sport anyway, i guess its fine
1
u/Ok-Section-1224 2h ago
I mean, the way England was playing the ref could've extended with 30 mins and they still wouldn't have scored lmao

I wouldn't trust Guehi or Stones to do that. Both are not mobile and aware enough on how to deal with situations under pressure. There's a reason Argentina were confident in passing all around the pitch. All their clearances besides one were spot on.
15
u/BaolanGS 17h ago
That's what years at Tottenham make you become

Gary Neville.
There is an Interview from today where they get asked on what he said. Licha is all respectful and that they show on the field and whatnot, Cuti meanwhile saying he hopes he doesn’t end up an idiot like Neville after his career.

I get you’ve never been involved in competitive sports, except fluffing, and don’t understand how top players can stay cool under pressure, while you’d be sweating lard and feeling your clit shrivel with the faintest wisp of pressure.

u/CrazyKnee1227 8h ago
LMAO ok but a clit shriveling with a faint wisp of pressure would be a good thing, no?
I may not play but I have seen other teams and other players have class, they don't resort to playing like they're wrestling. Imagine a game between Vargentina and Paraguay! that would be amazing, let's see who hurts each other more 😂

Everyone is hyping Messi (and for a reason) but truth is that Messi didn't win anything for Argentina before Romero. And after Romero debuted in the national team, Argentina has won every single tournament they have participated in. Romero is incredible winner and should get more recognition.
7
u/NotForYou_2 Argentina 3h ago edited 3h ago
Romero is a beast, no one is denying that. But what Messi has done, no one else can or ever will do. Long before this golden generation Messi carried a fractured team all alone. Three consecutive finals (2014,2015,2016) & what about the Hattrick to drag us into the 2018 world cup. He delivered when literally no one else could.
What changed in 2019 wasn't just Romero debuting, it was the birth of a real team. This is the best Argentina squad we've ever seen because they finally gave Messi a team he could trust. The reason they win everything now is the mentality. The whole squad respect & love Messi so much that nobody cares about individual glory anymore. They bleed for the badge and for each other. 💯🇦🇷
