đ°News Morocco already has enough votes within FIFA to take hosting rights for the 2030 World Cup final away from Spain

Just a reminder that the World Cup 2030 takes the spots for Africa, South America and Europe, so the Middle East, sorry I mean Asia, can hold another World Cups so quickly.

Just FIFA doing FIFA things. nothing new here
if i remember correctly the original co-host are supposed to be Spain and Portugal then FIFA decided to insert Morroco and then Uruguay/Argentina for the special matches to exclude both CAF and COMNEBOL from bidding contest for the 2034 so Saudi arabia can host it

I donât understand why tf FIFA keeps promoting these multiple bid countries for the World Cup but wants Saudi Arabia to do it by themselves when they have less stadiums than Spain, USA, and Mexico. Make that make sense.
If anything, Saudi Arabia should be co-hosting it with another country and not by themselves.

Oh wait, it gives FIFA an opportunity for more corruption.

Morocco needs to win the World Cup final in the courts like they did with AFCON
120
u/WasThatInappropriate 7d ago
They'd have to change FIFA's rules around continent rotation.
The whole reason this is in Iberia and South America (for a couple of games) aswell as Morocco is so they can get it back to the Middle East as quickly as possible for maximum bribes.
61
u/Based_Liberty1776 7d ago

u/Stylianius1 7d ago
Absurd and corrupt decision. The 2030 World Cup, if hosting rights were decided by merit in the quality of organization and infrastructure, would have been exclusively hosted by Portugal and Spain, which was how the bid started. Including Morocco was the easy way for the bid to please Infantino as it crossed out Africa from 2034, and to please Morocco who can now stop bidding to host the tournament. So, Morocco was never the main country and is never going to be. It's like if Canada decided to build a 100 000 seat stadium and hosted the 2026 final.

Marrakech sits on the border of the agafay desert and in the next week will have temps as high as 109. For all intents and purposes itâs pretty much the desert. Especially in the summer when they get no rain there. Thatâs very different from Madrid or Barcelona.
Afcon and World Cup are two different beasts.

u/CVogel26 7d ago
There's really only a few countries that can pull off hosting (without dumping tens of billions into new stadiums).
US can do it easiest due to the amount of American football stadiums.
United Kingdom could also probably do it, 11 stadiums over 60k.
Germany has ten stadiums over 50k and Spain has 10 over 40k so they may be feasible.

I used to live in Morocco and loved it. If it wasn't for my experience of fans during a Raja Wydad match and what happened at Afcon, I'd be all for it. Although you can write of the experience with fans because it is a well known intense rivalry and I doubt the experience would be the same as that.
But yeah the way they allowed the game to unfold in the final with ballboys and subs practically assaulting Senegal's back up goalie, it kind of brings doubt into how they would police the final. Save your talks about black magic. Even if there was special juju juice on the towel, you can assault someone. Also the special juju juice and totems are obviously ineffective. Senegal lost and Harry Kane's curse amounted to nothing.
If they can apologize for that and somehow give an assurance that nothing like that would happen I would love it there. Beautiful country and amazing and hospitable people.
