family will be in Gotland for 4 days (starting 10 August - day after the Medeltidsveckan ends)

wife has has been dying to get to Visby for years. also plan to bike or hike a bit around Gotland. kids (early 20s) have expressed interest in an afternoon at a beach club. just chill out, people watch, have some food and beers and hear some music. and try the "refreshing" waves. I don't know that they yet realize the water temp there but it doesn't ever seem to phase them. wherever we go we try to see if there is day we can spend at the beach and they always end up having a good swim

so I see several along the coast there within an hour or so of Visby. can anyone give me some intel on what the scene is like? are some mainly restaurants that just happen to have tables by the shore while others are more like "clubs" with lounge chairs and/or cabanas you can rent?

reviews I have read of them seem to vary widely. we aren't looking to be dancing all night. just a little 3-4 side trip to the shore. but do want access to beer/cocktails, decent food, ideally a place to sit (seats) on the sand and some good vibes

first trip to Gotland. all of Sweden actually. thought about maybe taking the overnight Viking Cruiseliner "Birka Gotland" from Stockholm

anyone made that passage that has feedback or tips. how is the ship and its amenities? me, wife and two 20 YO sons.

full transparency ~ we have never been on a cruise as we generally aren't into big crowds. but thought this little overnight jaunt might be fun as it seems to be a smaller ship than those mega cruisers. but still want a fun and comfortable night

We spent the midsummer weekend on a remote island in the south edge of the Finnish Archipelago. While gathering garbage from the shores I found an old plastic bottle tucked away under a boulder. It's cap was so deteriorated, it crumbled to pieces while opening. This makes me believe that the message is in fact as old as Robin claims.

The number in his letter doesn't seem to be in use anymore and the email address misses the domain.

We do not like art museums. We do like recent history, cool architecture, and stunning scenery. My wife loves meeting & talking to people (I don't - I'm an introvert).

So I'm planning to stay in an area called Axelsro south of Visby but will be travelling to Visby for groceries, do touristy stuff etc. this winter. I have no driving's licence so renting a car isn't possible atm. Could I use uber? Are there buses? How can I get to and fro Axelsro and Visby?
