I bet his parents are the type to get into a fist fight with another parent at the game.

I mean - it’s clearly not America.

OH I'M SORRY

u/Illustrious_Sand415 11h ago

And clearly I was making a reference about the little league episode of South Park where Randy keeps getting into fights.

u/lawduckfan21 16h ago

Nah; the is Latin America. This is how they play the game; it's fun.

Right? This is pretty standard. I played ball for many years. Not once did I ever see parents fighting each other. You might've seen an altercation after a game with a drunk dad fighting over a parking spot or something. But during the game? Not once.

I was ready to judge because it’s Reddit, but once I realized it was a different country I stopped. Don’t know what that says about me but it’s different down there.

It says enough about you...

1

u/Responsible-Onion860 1h ago

It's says you're more racist than you'll admit and regardless of what you say, you judge foreigners on a different scale because you inherently believe you're better and adopt a patronizing and paternalistic view of other cultures.

I truly wonder why you would feel differently about the behavior depending on where they live

3

u/ThomasTheDankPigeon 13h ago

You “truly wonder” why additional context would affect someone’s opinion about something?

0

u/strange_reveries 13h ago

I think they meant why that particular context makes a difference in how obnoxious this kid is being.

3

u/Early-Light-864 12h ago

Even in the video, there is obviously a cultural difference. The kids coming out to high 5 down the third base line is not something that you'd see in my area, but it's not inherently unsporting.

I'm still a hard no on the bat toss. He didn't seem to have enough control to guarantee it's safe

u/Brilliant-Spite-850 13h ago

No I’m wondering what context could matter to your opinion

2

u/Nemphiz 10h ago

To give you some context, this is the Dominican Winter league.

The distinction between sportsmanship and competitive spirit is completely arbitrary and it exists where we all decide it exists. You give someone a thumbs up in London and they give you a smile. You give a thumbs up in Afghanistan and they punch you in the face. It isn’t strange at all that some countries would consider this to be unsportsmanlike while others consider it to be reasonable competitive behavior.

1

u/lawduckfan21 8h ago

Because different countries have different cultures and sensibilities. Honestly you can’t be that ignorant.

1

u/NonProphet8theist 14h ago

"Wow that must have been 350 feet!"

"NUH UH IT WAZ three seventy-FI"

fight breaks out

1

u/ghigoli 13h ago

generally my experience is this parents start the fight but often are the ones that get their ass kicked the most when it comes to hands.

1

u/jpatduf 13h ago

Yeah, but the fist fight isn’t about the game, it’s about bud light vs miller lite

1

u/FFdarkpassenger45 12h ago

Assuming both parents are at the game feels like a stretch.

1

u/Icy_Chemist_1725 12h ago

They are the type to start one. The police will finish it. =)

He's a kid and works everyday on the game and is passionate and can do what he wants. None of you have put so much effort into a sport like he has. You weren't with him when he was practicing in his driveway or between important life stuff.

Why would he care what any of you think? You don't have what it takes like him. He is a winner. He works for it. You sit and point at your screens.

Is his celebrations annoying and stupid looking? Yeah... but who cares. He wins and he does what he wants. PURE WINNER. I see his hard work and passion. None of you would understand.
