Rescue Welcome Ruby! (Adopted today)
Did we really *need* another dog? Probably not. But the shelter was drowning, big sister Callie was starting to get bored and frustrated after a year of being the only dog (after a lifetime of being around more dogs than humans), and Ruby seems like the perfect dog. The two who were most likely to veto the adoption met her today and she charmed them both. My husband is already using a baby voice with her, and by the time the meet and greet with Callie was done, they were following each other around and sometimes licking faces. Obviously we'll take it slow, but a joint walk tonight went perfectly and she seems very comfortable here.

Why do people hate pits so much ?
I’m just curious if it’s just a thing in the internet or if people really hate them that much ?
I have two pits , the 18m Dalmatian/Pitt mix and the 12 week old American pit . Both are males and are super docile, I mean obviously the owner makes a difference in how the dog turns out. Personally I’ve never encountered a pit that was out of control .
So just wondering what y’all opinion on this is ?

Foster My foster bottle baby Nico is now 6 months old. He was adopted awhile ago by a nice family and looks like a grown man now! Swipe to see his glow-up!
I started fostering Nico when he was just 3 days old. His mama attacked him, biting off half his ear and causing several lacerations in his back and neck. I bottle fed him, and we fostered him until he was about 8 weeks old and big enough to go to a new foster home with other puppies! He was adopted and I recently got these photos of him looking so grown up! The backyard breeders who surrendered him said he was a pittie/mastiff mix, but I see some Dane in there too! If anyone is considering fostering (cats or dogs), I promise, it’s completely worth it!

She makes me eat 🥲
So I got a service dog a couple months ago. And she’s amazing, in every single way. She’s so attuned to me and lives for me. One problem though, she’s so attuned to me, she’d rather spend time with me than eat or drink water, primarily the former. I’ve struggled with disordered eating my whole life so I don’t usually eat very often. But now that she will only eat if I am right next to her, I’ve started eating more often.
Sometimes I just sit next to her while she eats and don’t eat a whole meal myself, but being in the kitchen makes me see food and reminds me to at least have a snack. Thanks to my girl, I’ve gained some weight. It’s a bit unwelcome for me but I’m trying to be okay with it.

Pitbulls/baby’s
Hey friends! Question for those of you who have welcomed a newborn into a home with big dogs. What are some things you did beforehand that you’re really thankful you did?
We have two pitbull/bully mixes, Ax (blue nose)and Ozzy (red nose).
I’ve had Ax his entire life, and he’s 10 now. I’m not as concerned about him because he’s been around children quite a bit and has always been incredibly gentle. He’s never shown aggression, even when kids have pulled on his ears or been a little rough with him. That being said, I’ve always kept a close eye on him around kids because I know how strong these dogs are and the responsibility that comes with owning them.
Ozzy is where I have a little more concern, mainly because he’s younger and I don’t have the same 10 years of experience with him. He’s about 3 and is honestly just a big, derpy boy. He sleeps on his back, constantly wants to cuddle, and has never shown aggression toward me or my family. But he’s insanely strong, much more active, and can be more reactive/excitable. Bringing a newborn into the house is obviously something completely new for him and for us.
I guess my biggest questions are: What did you do to prepare your dogs before bringing your baby home? And how did you handle those first few weeks and months while everyone adjusted?
We’re having our first child, and I’m beyond excited. I also want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to set both my dogs and our baby up for success. I know supervision and boundaries will be extremely important regardless of how much I trust my dogs.
I’d love any guidance or experiences from people who have been through this before. First-time dad here, so this is all new territory for me!
Thanks in advance! Cheers!

My girl doped up on pills
She tore her ACL and has a heart murmur plus she is 12, surgery is too risky. Vet said to keep her in the kennel except to go potty. It should heal on its own in a few weeks. She’s on lots of meds to keep her happy lol

Got Fern her own chair and she loves it 😎
Found this on a July 4th clearance sale and it’s helped to keep her from my other furniture after destroying my couch (🙄) She really seems to enjoy lounging on it. I’m holding off on getting a new couch until she is less destructive. 🤞🏼

It's my baby girl Nova's Gotcha Day today! I made this portrait of her and it's hanging proudly in our break room!
I can't believe it's been 10 years already. Best ten years of my life hands down!
