Hmmm at what point does a movie get so many negative reviews that it becomes cool enough to like it? And then when do I act like I dont like it when it gets too popular again?
I feel like however many dislikes either "The Love Guru" (the underappreciated gem) or "The Master of Disguise" (the cult classic) has. Those are the only two films that should be watched by anyone trying to avoid qualityslop.
Some people only feel satisfaction from hating things and letting others know that they hate them. They will take time and energy out of their miserable lives to let others know. Itās strange but seems to be true to some extent.

Just another by the numbers movie hitting all the expected notes. Dime a dozen masterpieces that cannot begin to reflect the true depravity and failure of modern society. The human condition requires 16mm black and white bolex kino to really EXPRESS. Didn't even have a boom mic dip in frame. 10/10 which means it's unwatchable gold.

I'm gonna continue watching acclaimed movies, not understanding/liking them at all then going on Reddit and reading what smarter people than me liked about the movie then regurgitating this to friends and tell them it's a masterpiece.

Critics high and audience (very) low usually means it's pretentious/artsy Oscar bait and either very boring or very weird for the general audience.Ā
For me,Ā it's a very risky watch.
Critics low and audience high means it's usually an entertaining popcorn movie and/or you will like it if you are fan of whatever franchise/ source material it's from.Ā
When I see high critic low audience I think "artistic choices were made, this will be a unique experience and there will be at least some craftsmanship and quality in some aspects of this film. Narratively, or thematically, there are likely to be risky choices that don't resonate with mainstream audiences. This is a movie I crave."
When I see low crit and high audience scores I agree with you that it's likely to be aimed at people who are already familiar with and like the premise and/or source material. Many MCU movies fall here. So do certain kinds of war and action films. Is the war film about war and the surrounding effects, or is it about a hero who saves the day for the Good Team and punishes the Bad Team? The former could be high crit - high aud OR high crit low aud depending on how critical they are of war itself, and the latter is more likely to be low crit high aud.
A looooong time ago he actually reviewed movies and never commented on "woke" anything. He made the shift because it makes him money.

I believe it. The top Twitch streamer Asmongold is like this too, a guy who made interesting content, then became a huge grifter and definitely doesn't believe a fucking word out of his own mouth.
Pretty sure his mom dying fucked with him so bad he felt like he had to "be a successful adult"(even though he already was by most standards), but the only answer that came to his mind on what it means to be a successful adult is societies dumbass notion that wealth=success/a mans worth.

You need proof of purchase to review, too, which means someone bought a load of tickets for those bots. Basically the same as politicians buying tons of their own books with PAC money to get a best seller sticker.
It's the old strategy the US administration deploys when caught with their pants down, here they can say something like:

As someone whose seen the film, and went in with an open mind, there is no way these reviews are legit.
It's a shockingly bad film. I don't even mean the woke parts; that aside, it's a really bad film in every respect, from the woeful direction, stilted dialogue, really quite awful script and comical editing. Nolan phoned it in and produced one of cinema's greatest blunders. It will be studied in film schools as a cautionary tale of big-budget disasters and will tarnish Nolan's legacy as a film-maker.
The reviews are a bit like Emperor's New Clothes. Once the audience reviews hit this film's word of mouth will collapse the box office and the mainstream shills will fall into line.

I just got home from going to see this. I remember sitting down and before the previews they had Odyssey stuff on the screen and I saw Elliot Page and Lupita Nyongāo on the screen and I entered a completely justified black out rage. I only came to as my girlfriend pulled into the driveway.
Grifters deciding to target a Christopher Nolan film of all things was probably the dumbest shit they could've done. Dudes torpedoed their own credibility just for a cheap paycheck.
What's crazy is how they can't even hide that it's why they hate the movie. Even the ones that see it have to shoehorn it in to their negative reviews, losing them all credibility.
I was just saying that in another thread, I don't even think he speaks at all. Same with Lupita nyong'o, she actually has lines but is only in maybe 5 mins of the movie and these chuds spent so much time and energy being little bitches. Iām actually laughing about this. Bunch of incels on the internet raging over silly things about this movie but they didnāt prevail this time around. Or at least that seems to be the case for now.

The thing i always find funny about this is how much they overestimate the size of their bubble. All morning I saw coping about the critic score "just wait for the audience score to come outttt!!!!!". And it's like, the only people talking about black actors and Elliot Page being a Trans man are you guys and the people making fun of you guys. The rest of the population who is going to see this movie wont think twice about.
You spend all your time in the Critical Drinker, Quartering, Geeks and Gamers, Nerdotic communities, trap yourself in that bubble, and you just assume that the rest of the world is as hateful as you and cares about "wokeness" as their main criteria for analysis of media. And anyone who isn't is obviously lying and a paid shill. In reality the rest of society that actually touches grass looks at them as the creepy little weirdos they are.
