Robert Pattinson plays a conniving, spineless weasel SO WELL

He OWNED this part.

In the climax, yelling at anyone around him to grab the weapons, or shields, while he hid … dude can just act.

It's because he seems like he's got zero hubris. He only does projects he genuinely likes, he turns up, and he gets the job done, even if it's not the biggest paycheck and he has to look like an idiot doing it. He's a proper, grown-up, old-school actor.

Pattinson is someone I'd love to see tackle theatre, he's admitted he has stage fright so it's unlikely he'll ever do it but he'd be a great Richard III!

u/septidan 2h ago

He already did all the shitty roles he hated so he doesn't need to chase a paycheck. Daniel Radcliffe also doesn't need to chase a paycheck, but I'm not under the impression he hated his early roles.

He's not the politician we need, but the one we deserve.

That felt like a scene out of Men in Tights honestly.

very similar character to the role he played in The King...also an awesome movie

you could tell he was having a GOOD TIME

Between this and the Batman, he's living the HIGH LIFE

But without an OUTRAGEOUS FRENCH ACCENT.

One of the best things about the film.

"My dad is coming home!"

Your father was a hamster, and your mother smelt of elderberries! Go and boil your bottom, son of a silly person!

Also similarly despicable in The Devil All the Time.

u/BigHoss94 2h ago

“Swords! Get the swords!”

“Use the shields!”

“SPEARS! SPEARS!”

He was the opposite of Batman.

The man has range, looking forward to The Batman Part 2… whenever it comes out.

Yeah a few glimpses of his cowardly pompousness from his Dauphin role in The King

u/destrokk813 5h ago

he looked like that too. At one point i thought he showed his tongue and it made him look like a snake

u/izio14 3h ago

Everyone in my cinema clapped when Pattinson died .

The other two moments that everyone clapped in the middle of the movie were 1) when the fake priest dies and 2) when Odysseus strung his bow and shot an arrow thru the axes.

When you look at how much the film is saying about the current state of politics and people taking power and control and how they do so, his character is SO interesting. It’s a perfect combination of writing and acting.

Leguizamo’s getting a lot of attention and he deserves it, I hope he gets nominated. Pattinson is so good as well though.

u/xdjeddiejx 1h ago

Agreed about Leguizamo. Seems so different from his previous roles and sooo good.

u/Hitman3256 2h ago

Honestly he was the best actor of the movie imo

The spear the spear

He’s incredible as an evil character in The Devil of all time. Absolutely harrowing film to watch, but I do recommend

u/1mplication 2h ago

He definitely got me to think that Odysseus gave him a far too kind of a death after all the shit he pulled.

Fantastic acting, can’t wait to see what he does with his character in Dune 3.

In The Drama, I was so mad at how much of a pussy he was, this is awesome.

u/itsinhisblood 4h ago

I wanna rewatch The Devil All the Time just for more evil Pattinson

u/wouldanidioitdothat 3h ago

He's nothing without his mask!

u/HockeyKelly5 1h ago

I told my parents, you can tell Pattinson wants everyone to forget he was in Twilight so he keeps doing big roles and being one of the best every time

u/karateema 1h ago

So perfectly smarmy

You should see when he doesn’t get to be himself and actually has to ACT…he’s incredible. Have you seen Goblet of Fire? I mean WOW…wow. Ow. Oh.

u/ClubSoda 5h ago

He did go over the top in a couple of late scenes, which I thought lowered the impact.
