The scene where the Laestrygonians (big armored dudes) attack Odysseus and his crew was so amazing. The way its shot to make it seems like the trees were moving and trapping the soldiers is just so eerie and frightening I loved it.

Wait, the trees were actually moving though right? I thought that was part of the magic of that place or the giants knew how to control them somehow

Unless i was hallucinating, the stumps of the trees were definitely moving through the ground

Yeah, the trees did move. The giants also moved like guys on stilts.

Yup the trees were moving and even trapped some of the soldiers.

I thought they looked great, and watching them destroy those ships made them feel even more terrifying.

One of my favorite scenes of the movie. It's changed up quite a bit from the poem, but I absolutely love the way it was executed in the film. As soon as the kid dissappears in the fog, and you see the giants appear, how immediately they realize it's time to run, but they are all over the place.... So good.

I’m not very knowledge on the myths. Who was the creepy kid? Is that just what a young Lastrygonian looks like?

Yes, it was to set up that the parents would be freakish big

Maybe my favorite scene. In the Fitzgerald translation, I don’t think it’s even a full page (can’t quite remember), and I loved how this movie helped me visualize that specific scene better.

They blended the line between booking human, but also moving non-human to where it was just a very uncanny vibe. horrifying

Question, who (Or what) exactly are they?
