What a fucking movie. Almost started bawling when the dog was able to finally rest.

I cried when the tail wagged for the last time. And cried harder when Telemachus realized it was his dad because of the dog who was waiting for his master to come home before he died.

I forgot about that cause so much happened at the end but yeah that was so well done. The entire time the dog was hanging on to life waiting for its master to return, and the moment he returns, the dog passes.

In Homer’s version - IIRC, I think the dog recognized Odysseus right away, but he had to pretend to not know the dog for weeks/months for fear of blowing his cover. Only then does the dog pass away after staying alive all this waiting for his master

I like how the movie handled it better - it gives closure for Odysseus and his dog to reunite one last time, and acts as a setup for Telemachus to finally “meet” his father

Full on wept. I lost my bulldog two years ago after having him for 12.5 years since he was 8 weeks old. Immediately went home and snuggled my boxer.

That poor dog man. I get being an asshole but even assholes treat dogs with kindness.

Why the hell didn't Penelope keep that dog in her chambers????

Made for a better moment with Odysseus for sure. But I was just so saddened by that poor dog being left outside for days!

I like how they didn't overcook that moment either. Lingered just long enough to make it stay with you.

Hey, I legit cried on that scene.

Then Telemachus recognized him, I can't control my tears

I was a little upset at first that he didn’t break down and hug his dog like I would, but then I remembered that he couldn’t risk being recognized.
