Discussion IMA has called a 24-hour statewide OPD strike across Maharashtra after a court granted bail to Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre, who is accused of assaulting doctors and healthcare staff at a Dombivli municipal hospital. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NON BAILABLE IF AIIMS DOC LED TASK FORCE HAD DONE ITS JOB

As a MD Medicine, I recently came across a platform called Sugar.Fit. They were looking for a GLP-1 Consultant for teleconsultation for their users. After interview, they decided to go ahead with my profile.

The surprising part is the remuneration package they offered. For 4 hours daily with one weekly off and with mandatory working on weekends, they were offering 40k including TDS.

Considering each consultation lasting 15-20 minutes, so that comes down to an average of 400 rupees per hour and 150 rupees for consultation.

Shocking part is that their 12 month plan which includes 4 doctor consultations is for around 30k. They told me they have around 8k active users right now.

I told them this remuneration was outright disrespectful and to let me know if they can do better.

If we don't demand for better pay and stand united for the same in this country, I think we are doomed.

Incident Finally chhote bhai ne papa ka sapna poora kar diya...!

Papa always wanted both his children to become doctors. I couldn't secure a government seat through NEET, so I had to join a private medical college. My younger brother took two drop years, and this year he finally secured a government medical seat. I'm genuinely proud of him. Both of us fulfilled our father's dream, even though our journeys were very different. P.s: we are second generation doctors

Vent / rant Feeling guilty about joining a private medical college because of people’s reaction.

I scored 423 marks and going to join a private medical college and honestly, I didn’t feel bad about it at first. My parents can afford the fees comfortably, they’re happy and I’m grateful that I have this opportunity. But like since the results have been announced, the reactions from people around me have started getting to me. The side eyes, it’s making me feel like I’ve done something wrong.

Someone who got around a 14k rank in NEET and is going to a government college even joked about my choice, like he’s my friend and I asked him something and he replied “isliye to tum private college jarhi ho”.

only he = man can be a medical officer/doctor???

I don’t understand how do people not get bothered by the complete omission of women from Medical Books. This is a standard textbook of PSM, and ive seen this in so many other textbooks. It is astounding to see literal educated folks be this negligent.

Upvotes

Hi..
Post behalf of my friend (not on reddit)

I have completed my PG from Mumbai and completed bond , but there are hardly any job openings in government and also in private , in private if there are any they are asking to do only opd.. wanted to ask senior optalmologist ( specially first doctor from family) how did you manage to find job or to open own clinic without family support as optalmologist..
Feeling lost and worthless in India after studying so many years and no job in Mumbai..

Jobs Uttar Pradesh Pay Disparity: ₹50k for Bond MOs vs ₹1.27L in Medical Colleges for the same hours?

Post image
16 Upvotes

Take a look at the attached official order. Bond MOs (Non-PG JRs) posted in CHCs and PHCs in Grade A cities like Lucknow and Agra get a fixed pay of only ₹50,000 per month.

Meanwhile, Bonded Non-PG JRs in government medical colleges receive Grade 10 pay—ranging from ₹98,000 to ₹1,20,000+ (I've heard it reaches ₹1,27,000 at RML in Lucknow).

Both roles have 6-hour daily duties and require the exact same MBBS qualification.

  1. Why is there a ₹70k+ pay gap for the same hours?

  2. Why is the pay so incredibly low (₹50k) for doctors fulfilling their mandatory government bond after MBBS?

Has anyone raised this issue or challenged this massive disparity?

Vent / rant I never thought I would accept this fact, but I'm lonely

Been a introvert since lock down. I have always liked personal space and silence. I would only let go of my solitude when I met someone I connected with well and ha a good time with..I never trade of my peace for the sake of company. But that all was till 12th. Now I'm in college, living in hostel, 320 km away from home.

My pre-university exams just ended and now I have a 15 days break before university exams.

I won't go home because that place is hell, my childhood was a nightmare because if my family so no doubt that I am staying in hostel only.

I haven't found anyone I resonate well with. The only conversations I see happening are backtalks about others, gossiping, discussions about couples and similar useless shit.

Now my roommate is gone (we were on good terms in talking but I'm changing roommates for 2nd year bcuz she fights with her bf at 2am and shouts inside the room even when I'm sleeping).

I am alone during meals, alone in library, I only talk to my parents at night and that too is not a pleasant conversation because they love finding anything to argue about

I never thought I would accept the fact that I'm feeling like this. I had always taken pride in enjoying my own company and not needing anyone.

Mbbs really changes you a lot.

The most obvious solution is to talk with more people, but that's not- I mean I can't. I know it sounds stupid but I think another introvert would understand better. Sorry

I just don't know what to do..I feel tired. I am constantly scrolling without purpose. Even my hobby of reading novels is fading away

Discussion CCMP (Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology) - Just another step towards legalising quackery?

Last week, AYUSH doctors launched a statewide agitation across Maharashtra demanding the legalization of CCMP registration under the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC). As reported by the Free Press Journal:

https://www.freepressjournal.in/mumbai/maharashtra-40000-ayush-practitioners-launch-statewide-agitation-hunger-strike

If anyone can confirm whether the protest is still continuing at Azad Maidan or outside the MMC office in Chinchpokli, it would be appreciated.

One thing that is difficult for me to understand is why the CCMP registration portal on the MMC website is still active and accessible:

A screenshot of the CCMP registration portal by MMC

https://ccmp.maharashtramedicalcouncil.org.in/auth/register

If CCMP registrations remain suspended following last year's statewide protests by the medical faternity, why is the portal still operational? What purpose does it currently serve?

The Free Press Journal article also states that the President of the Integrated Doctors Association claimed that the MMC had given a written assurance to initiate the registration process for CCMP-qualified homeopathic doctors who are eligible to practice allopathy as per the existing provisions. If that is true, then the medical fraternity deserves complete transparency from the MMC regarding its status of this proposal.

As far as I remember, this was one of the key issues during the recent MMC elections. Many candidates and organizations (including our beloved IMA) sought to the support of doctors while assuring us that our concerns would be protected and integrity of modern medicine would be preserved.

I wanna know, were those commitments limited to the election campaign, or do they still stand today? The profession deserves clear answers.

What puzzles me is: Why is MMC registration is being sought at all? In Maharashtra, BAMS practitioners are regulated through their own council while being permitted a defined scope to prescribe modern medicines to the extent of the training they have received under the existing legal framework. Their curriculum also includes training in modern pharmacology alongside Ayurvedic pharmacology.

If the objective is to allow CCMP-qualified BHMS doctors a defined and limited scope to prescribe specified modern medicines, why can't a similar framework be created and regulated through the Maharashtra Homeopathic Council itself? Why should registration under the Maharashtra Medical Council be necessary when the practitioner already has a separate statutory regulatory body?

For many of us, this is not just about CCMP registration. It's about the cascade of the events this can result into, today it is registration under MMC, tomorrow it could be demands for voting rights in MMC elections or further representation within the Council. This is a precedent that deserves serious discussion.

Personally, I do not support AYUSH representation in the Maharashtra Medical Council. Every system of medicine has its own statutory council, and any expansion in scope of practice should be regulated within their own framework rather than by seeking representation under the MMC or other council.

More importantly, if a decision of this magnitude is being considered, shouldn't be the opinion of doctors registered with the MMC be sought in a form of referendum? Why should such a decision be taken only by the council members without consulting the medical fraternity that the MMC represents?

P.S. I have a habit of reading Acts and legal/regulatory frameworks, and I do hope to study law someday. So if this post sounds a bit legalistic, that's just me. 😄

Nowadays Medical colleges have started manipulating the numbers in RTI to hide the fact that they’re illegally forcing residents to over work

Tamil Nadu is infamous for making residents work extra and paying them very poorly

TN medical colleges are also some of the most toxic work places in the world

Incident NEED A MEDICAL ADVICE!!

So my brother touched a bat! It was in his slipper..sleeping or dead dont know and unsure(because it did not move even when flicked). It was small. He was going to wear his slipper and halfway through he felt he touched something and immediately removed his foot..i checked his toes and sole and there were no marks or anything..15 mins later he cleaned his foot and took a bath.!!

I just need a medical opinion, is there any rabies exposure?? Is it possible that by simply touching a bat which is asleep/dead? can have exposure??

Iam a post intern. I have given many RIGs and prophylaxis but when it comes to my brother, iam just worried and i need a opinion. Thank you:)(
