Looking to rent or borrow hydraulic knockout punch
I need to punch a 4" and 4x 2" holes in a small sheetmetal panel, and I want to use a hydraulic knockout punch, used for EMT, to make clean holes. None of the local rental places have one (including the Guelph Tool Library), nor does my electrician. I'd rather not buy one from Princess Auto knowing that I'd likely never use it again.
I know it's a long shot, but thought I'd ask around. I can even bring the panel to your location and do it on site.
Thanks!

No masks given the air quality?
I haven’t left the house for several days.
I left yesterday and ensured to put a mask back on before leaving home so I wasn’t inhaling what smells like burnt plastic (I know it’s the Forrest fires).
I’m shocked with the amount of people outside without any care for their lungs and air quality.
We’re at the highest level -11.
I felt like people were looking at me like I was the crazy one yesterday for having a mask on (fitted N95) .
Am I crazy or are we all too lax on the implications of poor air quality on your lungs?

For others.. Hillside Festival 2026 Official Ticket Buy/Sell is a scam.
Yea I got got. People are shitty, and ruin everything. Just helping others. Everything on facebook about Hillside is probably fake. I am honestly suprised at the sheer volume of scammers in Guelph..

Anti choice ads in busses
I haven't seen one in a while but saw one yesterday. "Isn't abortion we should talk about" promoting a CPC.
Big talk for a city with zero abortion access.

Go train
Hi all, I hope you can enlighten me; if I want to take the go train to Toronto do I have to go to Kitchener first…? I am leaving from Guelph and having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to meet my friend (leaving from Kitchener) on the train. I am from a small enough town that public transit is one way lol, and trying to figure out if I’m being stupid or if there is a piece of the puzzle I am missing. Thanks in advance

A light bulb from my grandparents' time
Here I am, looking at the sun through this smoky sky—thousands of kilometres away from the actual wildfires. It looks exactly like those old, dim, yellow light bulbs from back in the day.
I remember those bulbs from when I was a kid. My grandparents used to tell me how amazing it felt just to have light after the sun went down. It wasn’t fancy, but it worked, and we could finally see in the dark. They always said humanity would keep progressing to make things even better. I think about how many failed attempts it took for Edison, and all the other forgotten inventors, just to harness electricity.
Fast forward to today: we have invented artificial intelligence. We talk about investing billions into companies that promise to make us a multiplanetary species. Yet, here we are on Earth, completely unable to control these wildfires despite having tons of advanced technology.
I know people say wildfires are just part of nature's natural cycle. But we are losing lives, destroying ecosystems, and ruining the health of living creatures. We debate carbon taxes and endless environmental policies, but somehow, we remain utterly incapable of solving the immediate crisis right in front of us.
We built the future, but we let the sky turn back into a dim, dusty bulb.

LOOKING FOR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR GARDNERS-EAST END- NEAR GUELPH EAST LIBRARY
Hello Guelph!!
My family and I dug up some of the backyard for some gardening, didn't expect to be overwhelmed by work and other activities,
We are looking for a gardening team who can help with lawn and other plantings and landscaping..
below is what I was looking for
-Edges to be trimmed
-Top soil removed at the corners, holes dug in for some privacy trees
-Closing up areas with mulch so no new weeds can grow.
-Placing small and plants and 4+ Privacy trees. (I will provide the mulch, soil and other requirements)
Looking for some recommendations for Gardeners who are local to Guelph.
Myself or my partner will be able to meet them and explain the requirements so that they can get us a quote.
Thank you all in advance

Good Doctor in Guelph
Hi there!
I'm wondering if there are any recommendations for a good doctor in Guelph?
I've got chronic health problems and need to someone who's closer by (my old doctor is a NP in Cambridge) so that I can easily access my doctor on public transport.

Found in library book…
My kids found this picture in a book they got from the city library. One of my kids is very distressed by it. Just curious if this is a one off thing or if other people have seen these floating around. Strange that it’s in a kids’ library book.

Royal City Ball Hockey For Adults
Looking to sign up as an individual for the fall season, curious what the league is like, more specifically the coed league as I haven’t played in a while.
Also open to hearing any other ball hockey leagues in the area.
The Fires
I'm genuinely shocked at how many people I've seen post on here and other cities Reddits along with all the people I've spoken to today that seem completely blindsided by the smokey conditions we're dealing with today.
This is like the fourth year in a row that the country has been on fire in the summer resulting in us having terrible air quality for like a month.
Every single year there's a new "hottest temperature on record" recorded and for the last month we've been dealing with consistently over 30 degree temperatures.
I mean this in the nicest and most respectful way possible, but get your heads out of your asses and recognize that this is the new norm because your ignorance has allowed it to happen and continue to happen.
Going forward, this is going to happen again and again every year until there's nothing left to burn, unless we do something about it.
Our provincial and federal government's are either not doing enough to mitigate the causes or are actively inflaming (pun intended) the causes with their policies.
DOUG FORD AND DANIELLE SMITH WANT TO BUILD A PIPELINE FROM ALBERTA TO SOUTHERN ONTARIO TO REFINE MORE OF THE SHIT THAT IS ACTIVELY MAJORLY CONTRIBUTING TO THE LITERAL HEAT DEATH OF CANADA.
TLDR: The country is literally on fire. This is like the fourth year in a row this has happened. This is the new norm and it will just get worse every year until there's nothing left to burn.

First time going to Hillside, what should I expect?
What should I expect? What is the Hillside etiquette? What should I bring? What should I not bring?
Not looking for official answers, looking to hear from those who have gone and experienced Hillside before.

Solstice 1 Utilities bill question
Long shot, but if anyone is staying in solstice 1 for the summer (1 person) in a 4 bedroom unit, what is your average bill?
For 1 person I’m thinking it should only be like $30-$35 max, but the bills I’ve been receiving is insane. Like $45-50 for 1 person staying there (my roommate not me).
For context, 1 of my roommates has a mini fridge that has been unplugged since end of April.
However, I found out a new roommate that moved in has an almost full sized fridge in her bedroom.
So now we have two fridges running, is this the potential cause for the increase in electricity?
Edit: I found the last bill from April (the month before the new roommate moved in), and for theee people living in the apartment the usage was $63 for electricity and $53 for water.
I am at a loss for how the electricity has doubled in usage with only one person living there. For reference, the first bill after the new roommate moved in was $122 in electricity and $65 in water.

Psychology student looking to gain business/operations experience during school
Hi everyone,
I’m a second-year Psychology student at the University of Guelph and I’m looking to gain more experience in business, operations, and project coordination while I’m completing my degree.
My long-term goal is to move into a business career, potentially in areas like project management or operations. I’m trying to build relevant experience outside of the classroom and learn from people who have experience in these fields.
My current background includes:
- Team Manager with the University Varsity Team (supporting team operations, communication, scheduling, and match-day organization)
- Event operations experience
- Analytics and research experience through sports scouting roles (data collection, analysis, and reporting)
I’m interested in opportunities where I can help a local organization with things like:
- Project support
- Organization and process improvement
- Research and reporting
- Administrative/business tasks
- Operations support
I’m currently a student, so I’m looking for something flexible around my class schedule (part-time, volunteer, or project-based).
If anyone knows of local businesses, organizations, or individuals who could use some help from a motivated student looking to learn, I’d appreciate any advice or connections.
Thanks!

Any employers in Guelph who have sent people home because of the air quality?
I have heard of at least one employer who made this decision and checking if more have done the same.
