Seeing Pelko do this kind of fitness test gave me PACER Test PTSD flashbacks.

And having to watch all the other classmates continue doing better than you after you got eliminated was just salt in the wound.

I remember in high school our gym levels determined our weekly schedule. Levels 1 through 3 got 3 game days and 2 exercise days. Level 4 got 2 game days and 3 exercise days.
Our level was based off the results of a few tests:
Pull ups
Sit ups
Push ups
The stretch thing depicted in this comic
Running a mile
At level 4, our exercise days were almost exclusively running laps around the track. This was like having to pass an algebra tests after they spent a full semester teaching you nothing but the multiplication tables.
For my final set of tests, I ran the mile backwards. Cut my time by nearly a 3rd too.

We had some fitness test like that at school. I wasn't aware that my friend was going to push down on my back and the teacher didn't see it. I aced that one at least!

I once got sent to the principal's office for "refusing" to touch my toes. I've always had insanely tight hamstrings; I literally couldn't reach further than halfway down my shins. Only remember that event specifically vividly because when the gym teacher came to the office after class he insisted on proving to the admin staff that I was somehow faking it, and tried to push me over to touch my toes. Then my mom had to come pick me up because I was shrieking in pain from overextending my hamstrings and couldn't walk. Got to take a few days off school though!

This, the pacer test, and some other things are used in American physical education classes (I think it might be a federal law for public schools but idk)

I've always been super flexible for a guy, of course I've gotten less flexible over the years, but I remember in middle school and high school I was just as flexible or sometimes more flexible than the girls in my class. It always impressed my classmates

Man, these two things were such a pain in the ass when I had to do them back in middle and high school.

Man I miss being flexible and doing all sorts of crazy stretches. Also short hair poggers
