I was in my room trying to teach my little sister

1

u/No-Competition691 7h ago

Then I heard a boom and it sounded like a missile

u/Syreet_Primacon 1d ago

Now I think about her every time I hit the hookah

Isn’t that aunt may?

Is it from threads ?

27

u/Jickklaus 1d ago

Huh? Gif is from spiderman

21

u/CeilingFridge 1d ago

Confusing SpiderMan for Threads is hilarious

2

u/Lock-out 1d ago

This is like the kind of niche joke I would make on shitty movie details made all the more funny bc I think it’s sincere.

1

u/Ferocious-Muppet 1d ago

With great power...comes great something or other!

-1

u/TakeThePillz 1d ago

Never saw any Spiderman movie lol but I get why it's fun.

I really try to find a physical copy of Thread in France but that's pretty hard.

Twilight: Breaking Wind

5

u/overkill 18h ago

Fucking hell that made me laugh.

2

u/TakeThePillz 18h ago

I feel so stupid ! But for real never watched any Spiderman movie lol

I'm not into many big franchises out there.

2

u/overkill 18h ago

I've never seen any either and didn't know what it was from. I upvoted you.

2

u/IIISSSAAAAAACCC 18h ago

I had to look up where it was from as well. I've never really been into Spider-Man or superhero movies. I just looked up bomb gifšŸ˜‚

2

u/Alabastine 13h ago

Bro I thought it was threads too

-5

u/You-JiveTurkey 22h ago

Aunt may getting her back doors blown in/out will never not be sad

71

u/namezam 1d ago

Damn I’ve been doing it wrong all these years, I didn’t know you were supposed to light it then sit down next to it and stare at it.

u/FlawesomeOrange 1d ago

I expected to see fingers dashing through the sky

128

u/MilesLongthe3rd 1d ago

For a "lighthearted" sub, people expect a surprising amount of gore as consequences.

76

u/xenogazer 1d ago

Mods remove them when they can, but I've been too early and caught both gore and death in this sub.

10

u/chromedgnome 23h ago

Like that one guy on a motorcycle that skidded under a vehicle and died in burst of flames. That one was brutal.

2

u/DaMadPotato 17h ago

Not sure if it was here or on another sub about people doing stupid things, but I once came across a video of a pedestrian getting ran over by a semi. Right under the wheels...

1

u/bookbagel 3h ago

Once I was browsing a generic cat related sub and someone had a picture of a kitten with it's entire eye socket missing

I still can't unsee it

19

u/throwawaybsme 1d ago

It's mostly that we expect more than "what could go mildly startled" like your video.

9

u/tribbans95 1d ago

Well to be fair, she was holding the firework like 10 seconds after she lit it

5

u/FireTyme 1d ago

a lot of watchpeopledie and liveleak crowd flocked here when those shut down. it’s a lot better nowadays but i had to mute the sub for a while

3

u/FlawesomeOrange 23h ago

It’s crazy to me that watchpeopledie was an active sub for so long. I’m not sure what liveleak is, but I’m assuming it’s as disturbing as the former

3

u/DeminoTheDragon 17h ago

LiveLeak was it's own site that basically wpd but much more gruesome content

1

u/xenogazer 2h ago

Like that lady who was on invisible fire running down that water tower 😢

1

u/MilesLongthe3rd 1d ago

I have seen enough gore for a lifetime in Combat Footage, so I don't have to post it elsewhere.

2

u/FlawesomeOrange 1d ago

I’m happy it wasn’t gory. The way she was holding it so often made me think she would lose a hand, she got very lucky.

2

u/EvidenceSalesman 1d ago

Just a reasonable assumption based on her freakin holding the firework

2

u/Ok_Support3 1d ago

Tbf i've seen some gnarly crashes on this sub.

1

u/KariKommenttinen 3h ago

Not saying you are! But i do find it a little bit detached to call the things you see here lighthearted. I mean even the accepted stuff is often people getting hurt or in great chance of getting hurt.

3

u/PM_THE_REAPER 1d ago

In a one-horse open sleigh?

221

u/Countryb0i2m 1d ago

Please stop grabbing firecrackers after you light them, unless you wanna end up looking like a ninja turtle

54

u/craneguy 1d ago

Also read the fucking label and set it the right way up.

16

u/dreamsofcalamity 1d ago

Bold of you to assume she can read.

3

u/craneguy 1d ago

True dat.

1

u/XChrisUnknownX 1d ago

ā€œLook kid, you wanna know how I got Leonardo’s hands? Let me tell you, it was the summer of 2026ā€¦ā€

1

u/chefbobbyjay 1d ago

So I should stop lighting black cats and throwing them at my cousins?

1

u/ct451t 1d ago

I bet you'll find a lot of people who want to be ninja turtles.

2

u/chefbobbyjay 1d ago

I want to be ninja

Yeah right? Maybe her hair got a bit singed. I was just glad when she stopped holding the lit firework.

52

u/keenoptic 1d ago

The biggest mistake was treating it like it wasn't already lit.

37

u/ThomasTheDankPigeon 20h ago

I saw a video from last week of a dude with some sort of firework. It was a tube open at both ends and you’re supposed to put one end on the ground to block it and give the payload something to push against to get in the air.

The guy decided it needed another 7 feet of altitude, so he holds it above his head and covers the end of the firework with his hand. The only words spoken in the video were in the last 3 seconds as the screen is completely filled with smoke: ā€œMY HAND IS GONEā€.

Cut to a photo of the aftermath and the stuff that used to be his hand looks like someone tried to mash a bunch of half chewed twizzlers into a tailpipe

15

u/notanyone69 19h ago

Some people need to learn the hard way

1

u/KazakiriKaoru 7h ago

Which is why I will never ever ever do fireworks. I leave that to the professionals, and the dumbasses that are willing to lose their limbs.

20

u/Billy_Billboard 23h ago

I don't think that shit is good for your eyes

9

u/Theidiam 21h ago

Horrible for the eyes, but ironically she may have seen the error of her ways as a result.

6

u/Groot8902 20h ago

That might've been the last thing she saw.

2

u/SocksInTheTub 8h ago

She has certainly seen the light

10

u/CaseroRubical 23h ago

I wouldnt say that shit blowing up in my face would be it going right

-2

u/throwawaybsme 22h ago

Agreed. I wouldn't and didn't say that.

3

u/ztomiczombie 22h ago

I think she had the firework upside-down. It looks like its one of those tubes that fires out three or four small rockets and she set it up like it was a bottle rocket.

3

u/CAP_IMMORTAL 17h ago

something similar happened to a friend of mine, his face still has scars years later. That shit can easily disfigure you

2

u/davewave3283 22h ago

At least we can rest assured that nothing was learned from this

2

u/pm_me_github_repos 14h ago

Yea these edits are the worst. They just cut out the end to keep it ambiguous. I’m guessing everyone’s just startled and nothing dramatic happens

1

u/TroutFearMe 21h ago

Leaning in didn’t work for her. Thank you Sheryl Sandberg

1

u/schw4161 15h ago

Could be worse. Had one go off in my minivan full of people back in the day. There was unfortunately a true jackass with us that set it off thinking it would be funny. It’s a miracle the firecracker found the open window and no one got hurt.

1

u/FrogsMakePoorSoup 14h ago

Great choice to go right up close to it though

1

u/OneDubOver 7h ago

I would have been sparkled too.

32

u/brute-forced 1d ago

Wow what an absolute moron

35

u/Willdborn87 1d ago

Are all fireworks now called firecrackers?

31

u/LHT-LFA 1d ago

we only use the word "fire cracker" when a white person is using fireworks.

6

u/MilesLongthe3rd 1d ago

I'm not a native English speaker and thought fireworks was plural, so I assumed firecracker was the singular form.

21

u/jarvisesdios 1d ago

Firecrackers are a specific and very common kind of firework. I had the same confusion as the other guy. Firecrackers are those stupid little red ones that just make loud noises... And that's about it lol

They look like these, though usually they're smaller and you light it once and a whole bunch of them go off. They're the most basic of fireworks

7

u/MilesLongthe3rd 1d ago

Thank you

4

u/jarvisesdios 23h ago

I'd imagine other cultures have different names for different types of fireworks? I've never really thought about that before TBH.

https://giphy.com/gifs/TL1zWga2Emqs1fUl5u

2

u/Huskies971 21h ago

The video was unexpected, I thought we were about to watch someone get there hand blown off, each time they got close it was like a tease.

0

u/jarvisesdios 21h ago

I mean, was it though? After she moved it the first time it was kinda expected as to how it would end.

You don't do that with a firework you haven't used before. That's just basic common sense lol

0

u/Huskies971 21h ago

I expected them to touch it and explode while repositioning it, if it was a firecracker. If it was what could go wrong while lighting a roman candle /firework I 100% would have expected it to be pointed in the wrong direction.

3

u/jarvisesdios 21h ago

I mean no disrespect here, but have you not been on the internet before? People not understanding fireworks is just a thing.

I get how it's not entirely her fault... But... You don't just guess with explosives. As someone that is American that had a lot of fun with fireworks and using them in ways they weren't intended. Fun fact: if you do it right, they look so cool if you time it right and make it explode in a shallow creek...

... Not that I did that or anything...

1

u/Huskies971 21h ago

Considering the post is titled firecracker I would expect then to be lighting something similar to a firecracker that explodes, as the viewer we don't see it's not a firecracker until the final frame when it's revealed it's a firework. That's why I'm saying it's unexpected.

2

u/jarvisesdios 21h ago

I mean, I guess that's fair...but... Again, I'm not trying to be mean here. The OP explained the reason already. It's a translation issue. We solved that already in this thread.

I was also confused and I explained to OP that fireworks have different names.

Again though, I'm still curious if other languages have different names for fireworks. I 100% expect that to be a thing in every single dialect of Chinese though TBH

1

u/Phriendly_Phisherman 15h ago

Back in the 80s/90s you could get m-80s and they did not just go ā€œpopā€. They were basically little sticks of dynamite and you could blow shit up with them for real. Super dangerous, but yeah, that is what a firecracker is to me. Fireworks are pretty and sparkly, not just ā€œthing goes bangā€ Ā

1

u/Normal_Cut8368 17h ago edited 17h ago

If this was a firecracker of that size she would have lost fingers and probably have had a much worse day

They are small explosives that range from a tiny pop to literally just small Dynamite.

Fireworks is the general work for fun explosives.

We have further less reasonable names for specific types.

This one probably falls under the bottle rocket category.

Any ball that goes in a tube is artillery.

Fountains are those fountains of sparks

1

u/A_Queer_Owl 1d ago

in English this would be called a Roman candle.

2

u/dankwaffle11 1d ago

Yup, just like how every amusement park ride is called a rollercoaster

1

u/WarConsigliere 8h ago

Speaking from a Commonwealth perspective, they always have been. They're things you set off on Firecracker Night.

1

u/kingp43x 6h ago

Yes. The world is getting exponentially dumber every day

11

u/Dark_Akarin 1d ago

pretty sure that was a Roman candle but upside down.

4

u/CoffeemonsterNL 23h ago

Even if she lit it with the correct side up in that position, it will probably drop after the first shot because of the recoil. It was so unstable.

7

u/ArkassEX 21h ago edited 18h ago

I think she mistook it for a rocket and was trying to line it up to fly skywards.

2

u/eternalwhat 8h ago

And it’s too bad she didn’t verify that’s how it works before she decided to induce explosions at close range

9

u/ApparitionExtinguish 1d ago

She was shuffling it around to get it perfect... Only to be blasted anyway.

12

u/katoptronophile 1d ago

Immediately move away after lighting a firework and never attempt to relight it.

13

u/meleecow 1d ago

Do people not understand explosives? Like seriously this is how you lose fingers. If you light it and it falls you freaking run, you don't touch it

3

u/Serikan 1d ago

"Are humans becoming less intelligent, and, if so, what is the cause? In this essay, I will demonstrate clear examples of stupidity and attempt to understand the causes."

4

u/i_devour_kids 1d ago

survival instincts of a fkn deer 😭

5

u/Bluevette1437 1d ago

She’s lucky it apparently had the longest fuze in the world.

2

u/re_carn 1d ago

I think videos showing the consequences of a firecracker exploding in hand should definitely be shown in schools.

2

u/alvinofdiaspar 1d ago

Some people really have no business handling incendiaries.

2

u/Available_Humor4916 23h ago

I am old. I've seen so much. I cannot get used to the stupidity of people. Darwin? Where are you man?! We need you back!

2

u/HLOFRND 23h ago

This sub is so stressful. šŸ˜‚

3

u/TroLinn 1d ago

Intelligence is not for everyone Biggest question is, was she or the person who filmed dumber?

3

u/Whacksess_Manager 1d ago

Fireworks are dangerous, they can blow up in your face!

So you better read the instructions, light the fuse and get away!

This message brought to you by The Mission Temple Fireworks Stand.

1

u/wannabecat2000 22h ago

It was reverse day for her

1

u/FoxInABoxOfRox 1d ago

She's all fingers & thumbs now.

1

u/EthanielRain 1d ago

I can't watch this, makes me want to scream GET THE FUCK AWAY!

...but she seems ok, so 🤷

1

u/JWMoo 23h ago

And thats how I ended up in the burn ward.

1

u/Tani_Soe 23h ago

I think the issue is keeping your face centimeters away from it

1

u/Emmanuelzappa 22h ago

I think my orange Tabby has more brains than her...

1

u/DeeterSly 22h ago

Who wonder why they’re called bottle rockets.

1

u/el_grande_ricardo 22h ago

At least she let go before it went off. Not letting go is a good way to lose fingers.

1

u/Substantialed 21h ago

Why does every Chinese tiktok video have that same cringe wheeze laughing track in the background?

1

u/ClownfishSoup 21h ago

I had multiple anxiety attacks every time it tipped over and she picked it up again

1

u/DonutsOnTheWall 21h ago

she likes to fire up her panties. nothing to see here, walk along

1

u/Accurate_View_2455 20h ago

I was expecting her to lose a hand

1

u/Raneynickelfire 19h ago

Deserved way worse. What a fuckwit.

1

u/New-Evidence350 19h ago

Stupidity has no language barrier

1

u/YesterdayDreamer 19h ago

The downside of living in India is that fireworks are allowed anywhere and everywhere.

The upside is that because it's allowed everywhere, we at least learn how to handle them (well, most of us).

I can never fathom how a person could point the lit end of a firework towards themselves. Is it not obvious what will happen?

1

u/Feeling_Bus_4701 17h ago

How dump do you want it?
YES

1

u/CeC-P 16h ago

If you're wondering, they chopped the stick off of a long rocket (aka the stabilizer) so that wasn't a good idea no matter how it was going to go.

1

u/Omniplox 16h ago

I put the stick end of bottle rockets in my mouth after I light them like a cigarette and then launch them off of my face. Literally nothing bad happens. This girl's kinda dumb like me but what she's doing here is nowhere near as dangerous as what some here seem to believe.

1

u/InsideProper4757 15h ago

She got what she deserved I don’t like fireworks

1

u/DramaticWesley 15h ago

She set it up upside down, right?

Also, she is setting off fireworks on a public bridge? This has to be illegal in most countries, right?

1

u/shyaznboi 14h ago

She still has 10 fingers attached at least

1

u/LastSeaworthiness767 11h ago

She has large balls.

It would be the reason of her shorter lifespan

1

u/elevenplays 10h ago

This is why Jubilee has visors!

1

u/SoundKidTown1085 10h ago

These kinds of people don't live long. Or they live very sorry lives

1

u/tehsecretgoldfish 10h ago

ā€œlight fuse and get away.ā€

1

u/elgranbano 8h ago

Ended too soon

1

u/kingp43x 6h ago

I find it funny that people will call any firework a firecracker

1

u/Exatex 5h ago

I am again and again astonished by the utter lack of self preservation that some individuals show.

1

u/Electronic-Animal-69 1d ago

It's not a rocket -.- More like a fountain. She was destined to fail.

1

u/Gloxxter 1d ago

Every time she grabbed the thing i thought am i about to see her losing a finger

Happy i didnt

0

u/ElectronJanitor 1d ago

Yeah, that's not at all how I expected that to end

0

u/debacchatio 1d ago

I’m going to point it directly at myself and crouch down not 3 feet away from it. Brilliant.

-1

u/Known-Efficiency2816 1d ago

Always stay as close as you can of the firecracker you just lit. It's a rule!

Darwin prize!

-1

u/PinkyLeopard2922 1d ago

This reminds me of the year we had a Dutch guy visiting for July 4th and he LOVED fireworks. Everyone was drunker than Cooter Brown that night and I am still very grateful that none of us needed to go to the ER.

-1

u/Dude-88 1d ago

What could go wrong playing with explosives hm...

-1

u/Odiumag 1d ago

How did she manag to live to this age?

-1

u/ElleMaeSinclair 1d ago

Back it up Terry!

-1

u/IcemanofOz 1d ago

Nothing went wrong with lighting it, it's the after lighting fuckwittery that's the problem...

-1

u/nolaks1 1d ago

She had 5 business days to wake up and realise it goes to blow up in her face.

-1

u/Extreme-Button-2478 1d ago

"how was I supposed to know?!"
