When I first learned woodworking, I was crosscutting without a sled and had it kick back. My teacher watched me get all set up and start cutting, then right after it kicked back he said, "haha you idiot. Well do you know what you did wrong"? It was a SawStop, so he wasn't worried about my fingers 😂

I've had a healthy fear of table saws ever since. That board got me GOOD right on my hip.

Not a woodworker but my guess is that he was pulling the corners towards each other ever so slightly and that made the blade catch
