I recently got Harrow Prime and was like "you know what'd be cool? Taken Harrow." And now that the Syndir Ephemera from Jade Shadows Constellations exists, we can do that!
There are two ways of doing this
Frame Colors
- Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, and Accents all your preferred darkest-black (I use Storm A10).
- Emissive should be your preferred brightest-white, or a just-off-white color. I used Potentia E9 for this.
- Energy can be whatever, though another white-and-black mix would be on theme. It depends on what frame you're using, since abilities color in various ways.
Attachments
- Just the Syndir Ephemera (it costs 100 Emerald Talents). Most attachments do not inherit the ephemera's border, so they clash. A few glowing ones could work well, though, like the Eos Prime set.
- If you're doing attachments, make them all black like the main frame.
- For energy color (determines the ephemera), use your brightest white and darkest black, in that order. This will result in the ephemera having pure white outlines and little visible 'fill'. The order is important! The inverse will result in your frame looking like it's covered in gray fog.
Sigils
This is what makes it 'pop.' As-is, the black-with-white-outline has some Taken vibes, but the thing that makes the Taken distinct from other "black void with glowing outline and eyes" visual themes is the oily sheen they have. So we gotta make your frame made of Taken Goop.
There are two ways of doing this; the first is more fashion-focused; it's the version used in the Harrow login screen image, and the images of Gyre, Koumei, and Trinity.
This one uses the Bloodshed Sigil, and unfortunately that can be an issue for two reasons. The first is that it's expensive or hard to farm (low drop rate on the Profit Taker or a high-cost Garuda bundle), the second is that the Bloodshed Sigil only activates aesthetically if you've taken health damage in a given mission. In the orbiter and captura it'll be maxed-out, but unless you're doing a healthtank build, this isn't viable for in-mission fashion.
Still, these are the settings for it:
Front Sigil
- Bloodshed Sigil
- Rotation, Width, Height, X Offset, and Y Offset can be done as you like; this doesn't affect the color but the random layout of your sigil's splatters. I used Rotation 0.91, Width 0.81, and Height/X/Y 0.50 in the images uploaded here.
- Transparency 0.47
- Color 1 (Left): A low-saturation blue-white or green-white; I used Beach E14 for this
- Color 2 (Right): Like the size and space numbers, this doesn't affect the color, but instead affects the random layout of the sigil. I used a dark black for it, but you can try various colors to see what works best for your frame.
Back Sigil
- Bloodshed Sigil
- Like before, the numbers other than Transparency don't matter. I did 0.50 on all of them.
- Transparency 1.00
- Color 1 (Left): An extremely faint off-white in a cool direction. I used Classic Saturated E18 (the very bottom-right of the palette).
- Color 1 (Right): Any color, as above. I used Classic Saturated E8 after sliding my mouse over various colors until I found a layout I liked.
This gives a slowly-flowing, oily sheen in the colors that Taken tend to have, but as mentioned will not work in missions unless you're taking health damage.
For a less-detailed but still functional option that doesn't need you to be health thanking, you can instead use the Vaporis Sigil (buyable for 25 plat).
Front Sigil
- Vaporis Sigil
- Unlike the Bloodshed Sigil, which is basically random, the Vaporis Sigil's layout can meaningfully change based on the numbers you put in for size and position. These are the options I found worked the best for my fashion.
- Rotation, Width, Height, Y Offset, Transparency: 1.00
- X Offset 0.80
- Color 1 (Left): A slightly darker blue-white than we'd use for Bloodshed. I used Beach E18.
- Color 2 (Right): The Vaporis Sigil actually uses this as a color. Make it your whitest white.
Back Sigil
- Vaporis Sigil
- Rotation, Width, Height, X Offset, Y Offset 0.50
- Transparency 0.75
- Color 1 (Left): An extremely faint off-white in a cool direction. I used Classic Saturated E18 (the very bottom-right of the palette).
- Color 2 (Right): A pale, desaturated blue. I used Easter E5.
I think that the Bloodshed Sigil version looks better for captura stuff, more closely imitating the texture of the Taken, but the Vaporis Sigil version is both more accessible and likely better at a distance in the middle of a mission.
Either way, there is a knife for you. It is shaped like [fashion]. Take up the knife. Flaunt your aesthetics. Take your new shape.
