Even before that, the party of 'family values' claimed Dems were the immoral ones, always sleeping around and cheating on their spouses. Then they elected Donald 'kid fkr' Trump.
And war mongers. Don't forget how dems are the ones that start wars. Like desert storm and then the full invasion of Afghanistan. Oh shit, both were Republicans and also dad and son. Yes, dems have done shit too but seriously, this argument is stupid.
So bizarre with the Jewish peeps. You suffer genocide, then you decide you want to try it yourself? WTF y’all. An Americans get shit for not standing up to their shitty leader?! Yeah, ya’ll need to write a strongly worded letter at least
"The USS Liberty incident was an attack on a United States Navy technical research ship (a spy ship), USS Liberty, by Israeli Air Force jet fighter aircraft and Israeli Navy motor torpedo boats, on 8 June 1967, during the Six-Day War. Both the Israeli and United States governments conducted inquiries and issued reports that concluded the attack was a mistake due to Israeli confusion about the ship's identity."
Yeah it's insanely easy to get banned there I got banned from world News for saying that we should criticize Israel for killing excessive amounts of children.
I was a 10yo Australian youth. I had no idea when Israel had become an enemy of the USA. It took so time for me to understand that some mistakes are strategic mistakes! Later, as a teen, I researched the event and came to a more logical understanding.
And those are the friends trump is doing this for. For any that don't know about the USS Liberty you should look it up on youtube. The survivors haven't forgotten.
There's no way conservatives can fall for such obvious lies
/s ?
They literally elected a life long con man and convicted fraudster who's entire personality is built around lying constantly, after he already had one term where he demonstrated very publicly that he lies about everything.
I do believe there shouldn't be special preferences on financial anything when it comes to warring. System of a down said it best, presidents should fight. One on one in a ring, first to get knocked out is the loser without having to sacrifice the masses.
Exhausted of the political environment, politics broken down, poli meaning many and tics being blood suckers.
It's because war has a lot of potential issues nationally and internationally. If they can sell it as not being a war and just being a special military operation, then they can avoid some of those issues. So even though they know it's war and Trump effectively said it's a war, they have to change the messaging. It's all a lie.
Others (MAGA) want to make it sound totally normal and totally cool. "It's just how it is now. We bomb countries and take out the leaders we don't like. That's not war, it's just what empires do🤷🏻♂️."
FWIW, it ain't just MAGA who says that. Plenty of centrists will point out the precedent of Presidents taking these actions and how they are technically within the POTUS's power. They may find it disagreeable, but many in that category accept it. MAGA agrees with these attacks, a lot of centrist view them as acceptable
An initial act of war is part of the war. If someone tries to get technical and say the war begins only after the initial act, excluding that act, I think they are missing the point. Many times the catalyst action is at least as deadly, sometimes due to an aspect of surprise, as later actions taken in the war.
So was the bombing of buildings housing Iran’s leadership an act of war? (Not that Iran’s leadership is anything for Americans to cry about - quite the opposite.) Answer: Was the bombing of Pearl Harbor an act of war? We all know it was. And yet there were no boots on the ground. Then it is reasonable to view the United States and Iran to now be at war.
Side note: Under the United Nations Charter (1945), aggressive war is prohibited except in self-defense or with Security Council authorization. Because of that legal framework, countries often avoid formally declaring war even when large-scale fighting occurs. So war does not have to be declared for there to be a war.
It is so ridiculous to hear an adult try to explain how taking out the leadership of a foreign country and destroying military targets, in the middle of the night, with missiles is not an act of war. Pearl Harbor? 9/11?
The new narrative is we’re dumb because the school was obviously a cover for Iranian militia and it’s not the first time Iran has used its citizens as fodder.
It's really depressing how the other panelists are tying themselves up in knots trying to debunk what she says and catch her in her hypocrisy, and this automaton is just gish galloping past it all with an obvious contempt for them.
Journalism and news media is broken and rudderless.
they are doing this to avoid anything close to the real conversations that need to be had in the media
i feel like we need to all form a unified front and boycott liars by calling them liars to their faces... "that's a lie, you just lied, you are lying" and more importantly hold the subject on "why did you just lie? why did you decide to lie about this? what makes you want to lie right now?"
and if they lie about lying we need to cut them off and say we dont negotiate with liars
im sick of people taking advantage of what could be reasonable spaces for discussion by hogging all the time with patently absurd falsehoods that are obviously false to everyone in the discussion and forcing the discussion to be about the claims no matter how absurd they are
fact checking takes time, but some things that people are claiming are contrary to common sense so at least we can force them to make up better lies that arent as easy to notice...
It's so frustrating, right? It's 100x easier to make up some bullshit than it is to form a logical argument to disprove it, even if it is total fucking nonsense.
Which is why they too need to be charged with these crimes. If you pushed for it and it can be proven that you had knowledge of your lies being lies, then you can be prosecuted as a co-conspirator in war crimes and treason. Mouth pieces get punched first.
The blank stares, sticking to the approved wording - its fucking insane. You can tell they clearly don't believe the words coming out of their own mouths, yet they stick to it because they are being docile to the programming.
She honestly reminds me of someone working the register at a retail store that is trying to sell you a warranty because their manager said they are required to say the pre-canned text lines that were passed down from corporate.
Yes, her lifeless "I can't hear you guys talking over each other" just lazy responses in general, it reads like "I said the thing, just accept it, why do I have to deal with all this bullshit, god this job sucks"
Thank god you made that comment, otherwise the entire world may have ended. You saved all of us, redditor. What would we do without your unbelievably pedantic corrections?
Modern warfare is mostly drones and air strikes.. just cus there aren’t actual “boots on the ground” doesn’t mean we aren’t there. So sad. This feels like the beginning of WW3 and we are the bad guys. Trump and his puppet masters don’t care about any laws, treaties, or agreements.
I 100% see America triggering WWIII and America will ally with Russia, North Korea, and I bet China will stay neutral but maybe they will be on the Axis side, and then everyone else is the Allies
i love how they're laughing at her. seriously though, why do they keep going on these programs? if they're just going to lie, just put out a memo and call it a day
If they're not paid in money they're paid in airtime for their ridiculous message. Dum-dums who already support them will automatically agree with them as long as they show up and say something, anything.
You think the illiterate/4th grade reading level part of their base is reading political memos? Face time is good propaganda time. If any of their non-reading base doesn't actively see them saying things, eventually they could be swayed by the people they do see and talk to regularly (potentially friends/family who have opposing views).
Guarantee this was a highly effective showing for their base. She never stumbled or lost her composure even when everyone was laughing at her. All the MAGA people can now feel comfortable continuing to support this because "we're not actually at war".
Let’s all tiptoe around the wording and the definitions of everything until we totally forget what laws are for and just go start an international sex trafficking operation because nobody knows what’s right or wrong? Ummmm wait a minute, that’s sounds absolutely farcical and we she actually just call it what it is and react accordingly within the law?
It’s interesting to me how that works because the president calls it war (that’s what he called it without a doubt) but that lady is somehow trying to make a case with twisted arguments about how it is an operation. I wouldn’t believe it if we were not seeing it happen.
In Civ 6, you can only bomb someone if you’re at war with them. I see it as, once you bomb a country, it’s open season. You don’t have to declare formal war for them to enact revenge. You started it. They have every right to get mad and retaliate. And that’s what war is. No formal declaration required.
Another journalist asked if he had a message to the families of the three U.S. service members killed in the conflict.
Trump just walked away.
NO COMMENT NESSARY >SOMEONE GROW A SPINE.
I watched this live, and the hosts were honestly going easy on her bc she was obviously so fucking dense. They were just baffled, flabbergasted, and trying not to laugh.
The UN General Assembly’s Resolution 3314 explicitly defines the bombardment of another state’s territory as an act of aggression, equivalent to invasion. You don’t need «boots on the ground» to be at war.
That would be insane. If so everyone could be bombaring one another with missiles and nukes and it would just be business as usual, office hours before lunch break.
Bombings have an interesting history and can I say they are actually quite counterintuitive in achieving their stated goals.
For over a hundred years military doctrine has revolved around the reality of bigger, more precise and more efficiently delivered aerial bombs on an adversary's civilian and political infrastructure. The idea being that wars will be shorter, less casualty causing and determined by who can achieve air superiority and can break the will and infrastructure of the bombed nation.
The reality of even the most vicious bombing campaigns is that breaking the will of a nation through aerial bombing is rarely achieved. Japan surrendered after receiving two nuclear bombs but look at counter examples like London during the blitz, North Korea, or Nazi Germany. In many cases the people being bombed become embattled and more willing to resist the bombing.
Side note: the dude is just watching the show. He knows when to sit quiet and let the women sort it out. No mansplaining or interjections. Well done dude.
The best answer to « do you see boots on the grounds? » would have been « nah just bombs, you must be right, this isn’t war, war requires boots not bombs! »
I think if you punch someone in the face, you don't really get to say "it's not a fight" - if the person hits you back and the punches continue on both sides, it's a fight.
For a country that hasn't been legally at war since like WW2 (last recognition/declaration of war by Congress) we've really done a lot of war stuff lately. Wonder what that's about.
America, is redefining war. It's a virtual war. Only ever from afar. No boots on the ground. Easy. Only on social media
The only condition that isn't getting redefined is that idea that when you say it will be "over by Christmas" it won't. "Christmas" being that eternal desire that war ends when one side wants it to.
Oh man, if *any* U.S. area was subject to a missile attack, military base, political building, or other, the majority of America would collectively lose their shit and call for war. It would probably be one of the most bipartisan issues in this generation if it were to occur.
Cult party over country. These people are hacks. And full fledge in a cult. And it was so easy to get them there with culture “war” meaningless bullshit.
