Helping Others Incredible people still exist. A resident, upon seeing an elderly couple exercising daily, set up a table with snacks and drinks to support them

my 80 year old parents have a walking routine in central toronto. been doing it for a decade and a half. theyre friends with so many restaurants and have stayed in touch with the workers (high school and uni guys who then graduate and move on).
a couple of cafes have a seat saved for their routine. some have tried to give them free foods and drinks but they refuse because “they would never take advantage of friends”… places end up getting them to try “free samples” of new products.
they just went to a wedding last month for one of the baristas…anyways this reminded me of them.

I always laugh at this video. I'm sure there's a reason why, but I just imagine them coming up with the idea of walking and not going outside but up and down the corridors.
Park for a walk? Naaaah, just up and down the corridor is fine.

Tons of people go mall walking. And is it that different from a gym’s track? Or a machine? It’s temperature controlled and if they need a break, they can go home.

How isn't seeing two elderly people walking up and down a corridor the slightest bit quirky or funny? Nobody is laughing at them, it's just something you don't see everyday.

I know how you feel, I do, but THIS IS COMMUNITY. Please embrace it. I almost stopped going to my favorite local donuts shop when the owner started greating me by name, I felt embarrassed, ashamed. But my sister enlightened me by saying that's community!

Yep, I'm dealing with getting active after a long period of beig bedbound, diet barely matters (as long as not going crazy with it), the most important part is keeping active daily so muscles loosen up and can move on to more complex exercises like pilates and such.
The way they're walking around looks the same as it's asked of me so I take it's something similar

They were trying to do something nice and people still bitch and complain about it. People sometimes over analyze things. For the few people in here it bothered the about 99% of other people would think it’s sweet.

Can we stop putting videos up where people pre plan 'nice' things in order to get views? I wish we had some sort of vetting process to know if folks in these videos gave constant to being shown online
Also it really makes me sad that many parts of America do not have enough green and walkable spaces. Mall walking still depresses me every time I think about it

I don't know, I always debate this in my head. I do agree with the consent part. I hope that they do ask them for consent before they post, but I love seeing videos like this. For some reason, it actually changes my mood and makes me smile, and it's really unexpected. I have bouts of times where I'm just feeling low, like one of them was just now. After seeing this video, honestly, I'm just smiling ear to ear, and I got motivation to do my work again, so ups and downs to everything, but again, yes, consent is important.

This table is simulating the ones you find during running races along the course, they are called refueling stations. It wasn’t there in order to fatten them up, it was there to motivate them during their efforts like if they were in a race. Getting back in shape is hard, at any age but especially the older you get. Any bit of motivation counts!

There are plenty of good snacks and they put out water not soda. The word snack does not mean eating fat stuff as most of us do as it shows in what we comment about the snacks!
