Freezer door got left open.

Went with my mom to check on my Grandparents's house while they're camping... My mom checked the basement and SOMEONE forgot to close the freezer door. Freezer provided to show how big it is.

The doors accidentally falling open are the reason we installed latches on our freezer doors. Literally never had any problems since.

Link to the product I bought

Did something fall and knock the door open? Raccoons?

My mom and I aren't too sure.. But I suspect that one of my grandparents didn't close the door tight enough before leaving to head off camping. As for the raccoons? Not really anywhere for them to get in.

That's what the raccoons want you to believe

That's why you level your freezer properly so the door shuts on its own

Had to tell my mom you need to make sure the door is closed even a accidently 20m could be bad as some models wont run the compressor when the door is open.

Why so much food? That's enough to run a restaurant.

My grandmother unfortunately likes to hoard food..

When prepping you need to have back up power and fall backs for when stuff like this happens. You can buy fridge generators to activate when power goes out. I bought one and it's amazing barely notice it half the time. We had issues with kids not closing the door all the way so we got auto lock things installed to make sure it would always shut.

My grandparents do have a generator. This wasn't a power outage though, it was just that one of them forgot to close the door tight enough before leaving to go camping.

My daughter’s babysitter did this once right after I had done my grocery shopping. I was so mad.

Yeah, you have to keep the door closed or else all those bags will escape.

Went through a similar situation two days ago. Not a door problem a freezer problem. Trying to look for any warranty stuff but I feel like it was right around 3 years ago when we bought it so probably nothing covered. Them covering the freezer isnt the problem tho... I got a 1/4 cow last year.... soooo much beef left 😭

Fake - one freezer doesn’t take up 8 full size trash bags.

I wish I was joking.
All of those foods are boxed (stacked on top of each other and on top of the homemade soups/chowder), bread (which was in the little shelves where liquids and condiments are normally set), and the soups stacked on top of each other in different rows. There was this much food because my grandmother is what my grandfather has described as a "packrat".

The freezer side of their fridge upstairs is worse; packed to the brim with food where you can't avoid something falling out if you want to grab something.
