Israel has killed more civilians than Hamas and hezbollah combined. Guess it matters who’s civilians you kill.

Funny since we have had both Palestinian and Lebanese moderators on this subreddit, and maybe still do (I do not like to give details about my current comods) and they say something completely different than you imply. Maybe you should be the one to try talking to actual people from the areas affected. And no, asking someone in Northern Lebanon does not count when the part affected is Southern Lebanon.

Hope you are learning something- that just repeating nonsense talking points about what people from someplace would say if you talked to them instead of actually talking to the affected people is going to make you look very foolish.

Nah the terrorist and rapists being supported are the IDF

Naw, most of us realize what the USA and Israel are doing is morally reprehensible. I don't have a problem working on a solution towards that issue so i'd like to know everything. Israel doesn't appear to want the truth out, neither does my country of the United States.

Is that relevant? should Israel be granted a pass because islamic nations fail to live up to our standard? Fact is that Israel is trying to exterminate any hopes of Palestine even though the region was divided up by the United Nations and prior land owner United Kingdom though this being entirely ignored by Israel who not only continues to trying to steal lands under from the Palestinians, the Gaza strip but also the Golan heights which belong to Syria, with the current regime in Israel becoming more authoritarian who have several government officials claiming they desire taking parts of Lebanon as well as they justify it as "reclaiming lands" to establish a "greater Israel", Israel may have had enemies in the beginning as they bullied their way into power in the region and surpressing any hopes of coexisting with the existing peoples who lived in the Israel or Palestinian regions, and as for current state they have put themselves in the position of "regional enemy" by the genocide in Gaza, stealing lands not belonging to them, (claiming "our religious texts said we once conquered this land so now it is ours to "reclaim" does not bring any validity to their claim, which, in Jewish Israelis doing so in basically the same as muslims stating "our religious book says we can hate you guys")

The nation of Israel have fundamental rights to survive, Israelis have the fundamental rights to thrive per the United Nations decree on human rights as well as the many treaties and outlining definitions passed over the near-century since it's inception, but that does not grant the right to bully every neighbouring nation into submission, that is also a Fact.

Israel is no-one's ally except Israel. You're literally talking about an Ethno-state for people who consider themselves "God's chosen people".

Literally if they'd just fucking nuked the Levant after WWII it wouldn't have caused as much generational damage to the west as this nonsense.

2

u/Kumquat_conniption 15h ago

Except then the Levant would be nuked, also killing all the indigenous people of the Levant as well. Is this really a serious solution?

07/10 showed us that Israel is willing to use the deaths of its own citizens as a pretext for genocide.

-19

u/Anna-Politkovskaya 19h ago

From Hamas!

6

u/isoviatech2 18h ago

From genocide and apartheid first. Hamas is willing to give up governance once that happens.

-10

u/anghellous 16h ago

Ehh I wouldn't make any assumptions on Hamas. They're not exactly freedom fighters.

There's no apartheid in Yemen but the Houthis virtually operate with the same MO that Hamas operates with (only with no Israeli aggressor to blame). These are Iranian terror cells that aim to violently take control over any middle eastern country that's not strong enough to fight them off to help Iran establish control over the middle east. They're basically playing the same game Israel is playing, with innocent middle eastern civilians being either radicalized or killed in the crossfire.

5

u/mindwire 17h ago

How do you feel having watched the leaked meeting from October 7th where Israeli officials decided it was better to murder its own citizens than let them be taken hostage, and did so with fire and blood? The mere existence of the Hannibal Directive fully illustrates Israel's lack of civility, honor, and humanity.

-6

u/Anna-Politkovskaya 16h ago

Lmao. That's your takeaway from October 7th, which was a day otherwise full of civility, honor and humanity?

Hamas guns down children and civilians and kidnaps them: This illustrates civility, honor and humanity.

Hamas kills IDF soldiers: This illustrates civility, honor and humanity.

IDF kills IDF soldiers: >:(

October 7th in a nutshell. How dare they not allow more people to be kidnapped?

You ever think about why they even have a directive in case of people getting kidnapped? How many people has your neighboring countrys army kidnapped from your country lately? I live next to Russia and despite them having occupied and colonised us, and them having taken ~10% of our population as slaves in the past, we never even discussed the remotest possibility of kidnappings.

Whining about the Hannibal Directive is victim blaming at it's finest. The issue is not that kidnappings are such an issue that they have to have such a policy, the issue is not IDF soldiers dying, the issue is that Israel tries to prevent kidnappings. Or are you saying you oppose the killing of IDF troops/civilians, in which care you must logically also oppose armed resistance to Israel?

Nope. That's why people cry antisemitism all the time. Anyone else can do anything to Israel, including slaughtering civilians. Your biggest gripe about October 7th is not the mass killings of innocent civilians, not the kidnapping of hundreds of people, but the way Israel tried to prevent those kidnappings. Not because you feel empathy towards Israelis (obviously) but because you want them to suffer more.

11

u/mindwire 12h ago edited 12h ago

That's a lot of yammering. And a lot of words put in my mouth. Why is it that for some reason any criticism of Israel is seen as an endorsement of Hamas to people with limited minds such as yours?

Hamas also committed atrocities. Israel has committed widespread apartheid and genocide. These two things are not, in fact, even close to equal. "Wah, wah, those babies deserved it!" you will of course shout in response (ah, see how easy it is when you put words in other people's mouths?)

If you don't like me bringing up the mass murder of their own citizens then perhaps you'll enjoy me bringing up the fact that the IDF rapes its victims excessively, including via dogs. FACT. That's not just abuse against people, that's animal abuse. You're a psychopath if you think that's okay

The actions of the government of Israel are that of a genocidal monster and everyone but the most ardent and rabid of supporters of Israel can see it at this point. To which I say, burn in hell, hypocritical bigots. Look at the ratio of death caused by both the IDF and Hamas and try and tell me that somehow, Israel is blame free here.

(P.S. I can't help but notice you couldn't even answer the simple question I asked. Because there's no defence against it really, other than to point the finger elsewhere.)

0

u/Anna-Politkovskaya 3h ago

You talked about lack of civility, honor and humanity relating to October 7th, and you only mention how unethical Israels policy to avoid kidnappings is.

That's like saying 9/11 was a tragedy because your flight was cancelled with no refund. Yes, cancelling flights with no refund is unethical, but how insulting is it to the victims of a terrorist attack to completely disregard the actual attack itself when looking at bad stuff that happened on 9/11 or October 7th?

"The child I ran over with my truck scratched my front bumper" <- this is what it sounds like. Deliberately insulting the actual victim by ignoring their suffering.

Israel commits apartheid but Hamas doesen't? How many jews live in Gaza vs how many muslims live in Israel?

If you're so concerned about ethnic homogeneiety, please point me to more ethno-religiously diverse places than Israel in the region. (Pointing to the Kurds might not be a good idea considering the apartheid and ethnic cleansing done by the countries in the region)

If Israel hates muslim palestinians, surely their neighboring muslim countries provide their muslim citizens with better quality of life than Israel in terms of education, political freedom, healthcare, life-expectancy etc. (They don't)

I just find it very suspicious that someone claims to be for human rights, political freedom, religious freedom etc. (Which are all actually good moral positions to have) then looks at the middle-east and it's history, and singles out Israel as the main evil. Just from a numerical perspective of people killed/displaced, it's a blip in the middle-east/asia region. In terms of civilian deaths in relation to time-scale, the current death toll of 75k in Gaza is on the same level as the second battle of Mosul. I don't recall coalition forces being accused of genocide. When iran kills tens of thousands of people, Reddit cheers them on. I wouldn't be surprised to look into your comment history and see tacit approval of the Islamic regieme, despite their horrendous human-rights record, an overture you would never afford to the Israelis.

Im not saying Israel is good. I'm saying you're just playing team sports with attrocities. You don't actually care about people (which is a good thing if you want to keep your sanity), you care about your team.

Israel can do no good and Hamas only does bad things due to Israel. Vs Hamas can do no good and Israel only does bad things due to Hamas.

According to many, only one side has any agency and the other is simply an unavoidable reactionary force.

I am afraid. I am afraid the U.S. government is going to keep funding and enabling the genocide of Palestinians. I am afraid no one will stand up to Israel as long as the U.S. protects it. I am afraid we will keep watching children in Gaza get blown apart, burned, starved, and maimed while the world goes numb to the war crimes happening in front of us.

I am afraid Netanyahu’s new strategy - killing Palestinians more slowly to avoid outrage - will work, and the slaughter will simply continue at a quieter pace. And I am afraid the light we see isn’t divine or hopeful, but a sun we have overheated with greenhouse gases, a sun that will burn us alive while we sit distracted by the images on our screens

I think we should all be afraid. A genocide is raging in Sudan too, and while people have already started forgetting about Palestine, most never even knew what was happening in Sudan in the first place. The media ignores it, people don’t care, and the violence is every bit as horrific. Most couldn’t name the two forces fighting, and it wouldn’t matter anyway because both are brutal and have horrible human rights abuses and the Sudanese are the ones suffering through it.

The fact that almost no one pays attention scares the hell out of me. I worry humanity will never get any better than this and that in fact, dark times are ahead of us. Progress is never linear and we could go literally backwards and I am scared that we have very dark times ahead.

I wish I had more faith and I wish I was not afraid like you are not afraid, but I am.
