I never imagined I'd write something like this.

I'm not here to ask for money or anything else. I simply need a place to share what life has become for my family.

My partner has an extremely rare and aggressive cancer. It is incurable. Since the diagnosis, our lives have been divided into scans, hospital visits, medications, waiting for results, and trying to make the most of the time we still have together.

We have children, and like any parents, all we want is for them to feel safe and loved. Instead, they've had to watch their world change far too soon.

People often ask, "How are you doing?" The honest answer is that we're surviving, not living. Every day feels like balancing hope and heartbreak. We keep going because we have no other choice.

There are so many things people never see: the fear after everyone has gone to bed, the financial pressure, the house and garden slowly becoming impossible to keep up with, and the guilt of never feeling like you're doing enough.

Our home used to be our safe place. Now it's another reminder of everything we no longer have the time, energy, or strength to do.

I don't know why I'm posting this. Maybe because sometimes it feels like we're disappearing behind the illness. Maybe because I needed someone, somewhere in the world, to know that this is what life looks like for one ordinary family.

If you've read this far, thank you. I hope you never have to experience what a rare disease can do to a family. And if you still have healthy people around you today, give them a hug. None of us knows what tomorrow will bring.

after being unemployed for six months I finally got a new job and things started to look up. Im not getting paid till next month and yesterday we had a power outage and our (electric) shower stopped working. I'm asking for 20$ to get it fixed. If anyone can help us I would be infinitely grateful. I just want to take a warm shower and go to work and be a "normal person" again.

I'm looking for assistance getting some items I need to take care of my bedridden sister. She lives with me, and I'm her caretaker.

We all hope this is temporary, and it's become a priority to keep everything - bedding. clothing, general surroundings - very clean and sanitary. And it's very important to us both that she's kept clean and presentable.

I was able to purchase a lot of important items that we needed but there is still quite a bit on the list for personal hygiene (no-rinse shampoo etc), wash cloths/towels are a major need, and a few stray items (fish oil, witch hazel recommended by the nurse) that we just can't swing right now.

With the other expenses and other specialty purchases, I'm struggling to make this happen. I'm definitely not asking for money, just a few items that will be used many times a day to make things easier and more pleasant.

I'm a regular poster on povertykitchen and found a link to this sub there. I'm very frugal and tried to find the most basic and reasonable options.

Hello, I was wondering if I could get assistance with my cat Callie [she's a calico I know original lol]. I am requesting some items that are urgent needs and things to better my cat's life and boredom. Here is a list of urgency vs quality of life in that order.

1. Kitty Litter [urgent]- I am dangerously low on cat litter. In the cart I requested the biggest and cheapest bag, nothing fancy just to get her situated.

2. Cat food [urgent]- A 3 pound bag of Allergen reducing dry food. She causes me severe allergies, but when I feed her this I have no symptoms and can cuddle her without dying.

3. Litter box [QOL]- The current litter box I have for my cat is small for her and she likes to spray litter everywhere. I get a lot of cat pee clumps on the floor she's the type of cat that faces inwards in her little box to use the bathroom. The current litterbox is very old, small, and has a leak. This litterbox has high walls so she doesn't spray everywhere.

4. Cat toys [QOL]- My cat constantly demands my attention to the point I feel bad where I cant pet her 24/7. I think it would be beneficial to get her something so she can not feel so bored. The other alternative was to get another cat but I can barely afford the one.

5. Cat brush [QOL]- My cat gets dandruff on her back near her tail and I don't have a comb to brush her. I want her to look as beautiful as she possibly can.

Not everything needs to be purchased, especially the QOL stuff, but I appreciate anyone who helps me.

My aunt recently lost her son and her husband within 4 months of each other. Obviously I'm going to spend time with her, and I've cooked for her and walked her dog. I'm wondering what else I can do that would be helpful. She's not the type to ask for help and I'm not sure what needs to be done around her house- if I ask, she will tell me she's fine. I don't want to ask, I just want to DO.

I'm wondering if you have ideas or if something has been really helpful to you in a time of need that was either a small gesture or surprisingly helpful.

Hey y'all! Not sure if this is the right spot to put this, but I lost a package in the mail, and I need advice on how to get it back...

Here's the story:

Me and my sister went to the mailbox to get a package we were waiting for. We opened our mail slot thingy, and lo and behold, a key was there for 2B, for none other than the package box holder!

So, we go to try the key and it enters, and...

It doesn't unlock?

So we tried 2A right next to it, thinking it just said the wrong number, and it still didn't work...

A lady sitting on her porch says, "Why don't you try the other mailbox right next to it?"

Great idea! So we try that one (1B); it enters, and it turns! We are literally ecstatic, because we've been waiting 3 damn weeks for the package!

We put the key in the slot, thanked the lady, and were on our jolly way when we look down at the box.

A random ass name is on there. Different address, different postal code, different everything. This is not our package. WHO'S PACKAGE DID WE STEAL?!?!

Anyways, we decided to be good little mailbox girls and we walked down the street to find this lady's house. We were going to hand it to her, explain the situation, and then ask if, next time she went to the mailbox, if she found a random ass key, she could deliver it to us!

She never answered.

We knocked at the door, heard her come down the stairs, knocked again when she didn't answer for 5 minutes, and then heard her shuffle around a bit more, never coming out of her home.

Well, crap. Now we couldn't explain the situation to her!

We left the package at the door, and waddled melancholically back home because there was nothing else we could do.

I'm so dissapointed, and above all angry at the lady who didn't open her door, because we couldn't explain ourselves. Maybe she had a good reason though.

I'm also just thinking that maybe the mail keys are the same for every "B" slot, and maybe mine just got stuck, but why would it work like that?!?!

I’m not sure if they put the wrong key in our mailbox or if me and my sister messed up, but I just want my package…

Should I call Canada Post?! I just don't wanna be stuck for three hours on a customer service call.

So, do you guys have any advice for us?! genuinely have no idea how to get this package back, and the deliverers didn't provide us with any information (Phone number, name, any information on who delivered the damn thing).

I never thought I'd be making a post like this, but I honestly don't know what else to do.

I was recently hired as a public school teacher here in the Philippines. I'm really happy and thankful to finally have this job ❤️ after months of waiting for my application to be processed. The problem is that my first salary won't be released until October (pls our government processes are so slow😭). During the months I was waiting to get hired, I slowly used up all of my emergency savings just to survive.

To make things worse, my laptop broke down. I use it every day to make lesson plans, PowerPoints, quizzes, and other teaching materials, but I can't even afford to have it repaired right now.😭

I only have around 14 USD in my account right now. I've already borrowed money from my parents, but I know I can't keep asking them for more. What they lent me won't even last until my first paycheck.

So I'm swallowing my pride and asking if anyone here is willing to help me get by, until I find a part-time work while waiting for my salary after three months. I roughly need around $50 for budgeting my food and transpo costs until I find a sustainable alternative (I think I can make it work for three months, prices are really cheap in PH); for the laptop repair, I really have no idea yet.

I have had a sudden car repair bill that I cant pay. I am OCD, suffer from autism and aspergers syndrome as well as horrible anxiety that prevents me from working currently. I recieve SSI to support myself, So I can only have 2000 in the bank at any given times or else my benifits get adjusted. All I have is 330 in savings that I can use to bring the cost down a little. I had a suprise car breakdown on july 4th in the middle of no where and had to get my car towed to the dealership since there were no machanics in the area. But had to put it on a credit card with a 30 percent APR, since the dealer said they wouldnt hold a car they were not working on. I need my car for doctors appointments and consoling services I recieve weekly. Without a car to attend these, my medicines will eventually be cut and my mental state will take a down spiral. Hello friends, I am still homeless and living in my car. I did manage to get a job, but it's only part time and I had been out sick recently with covid so I missed my last check. The heat has been so bad in Florida, I have wasted all my little funds on gas to keep me and my pets cool and it's evaporating quickly. It only ever goes to gas, I'll get food at the food bank. Chelsea Gress, my significant other, has faced a series of health challenges over the past few years. We previously turned to GoFundMe for support, and thanks to the generosity of friends, family, and kind strangers, Chelsea was able to navigate those difficult times and make progress in her recovery. For a while, things were looking up, and she was doing well.

Unfortunately, at the start of this year, Chelsea experienced another setback when she was physically attacked outside our apartment. The trauma, both physically and emotionally, from this event has been significant, and she has been working hard to process it with the help of therapy and regular appointments with a psychiatrist. At the time, Chelsea was covered by Medicaid, which made it possible for her to access the care she needed. However, about two months ago, she was removed from Medicaid due to lack of employment. The attack has made it difficult for her to return to work, and she is currently working with Medicaid to try to regain coverage.

On top of these challenges, Chelsea’s mother passed away unexpectedly a month ago. Her mother was the primary caretaker for Chelsea’s father, who has dementia, and now Chelsea and her siblings are handling his care. This has brought added emotional and financial stress to an already difficult situation. In the meantime, we are facing out of pocket costs for therapy, psychiatrist appointments, medications, medical bills, and general cost of living. Chelsea's treatments are essential for healing, and having to stop or stagger them would be counterproductive to her recovery. With the loss of her mother and the responsibility of caring for her father, your support means even more during this difficult time.

Greetings all. I’ve never done this but I am truly desperate. Recently, I’ve had some unforeseen circumstances that caused us to spend more than I was truly able, which has put us so behind on rent, which is due in 2 days before our account is sent in. I don’t get paid until next Wednesday, and I’ve already advanced a good amount of my paycheck + I need to save for next month’s rent, which, thankfully, will be half off because we referred some friends.
