Just want to preface this by saying T2 is a fantastic movie. But in comparison to 1 it seems kinda corny.

The Terminator is a perfect movie. Ironically its like a supremely designed machine. 100% efficient. No excess, no fat. Every single scene, every line either advances the plot or explains the characters. Everything is important. It has a sex scene but thats arguably the most important scene in the film! It literally saves humanity. Despite the sci fi plot it feels raw and real. The characters are confused and terrified. They respond to events like real people, not movie characters. And the movie speeds to its conclusion in a streamlined fashion, direct like the terminator himself. It has a supreme focus.

T2 is great. And yet it really feels like a movie sequel. The opening credits tell us two terminators were sent back. Well we know from the first film they destroyed all the time displacement equipment. So we already know this is a cashgrab. The film meanders. It sets up a powerful villain but sidelines him for the middle of the story. It labours on unecessary voiceovers. It has a lot of callbacks and one-liners. And "badass" moments which dont make sense for the characters. Why would the terminator smile when he picks up a big gun? Why would the T1000 do the creepy villain finger wag? They have no emotions. And the idea of a robot learning to love and be more human is a real cliche.

Terminator 1 drops you into an extreme situation. Its visceral and raw. The emotions feel so real. T2 is exciting but it really feels like a movie. It hits familiar movie beats and cliches. T1 all the way.

Where can I go to run away from all the talk about this movie. The publicity is absolutely insane on all platforms and really, the haters have done exactly what the showrunners wanted/expected them to do.

I really don't like them removing the core gamemode I play the game for, even if it's for a short period of time. It sucks and comp is not really my cup of tea. 21 MtF, I started HRT about 6 months ago without telling my family. I am still on their insurance, so I’ve been using it to help pay for my HRT meds. Deep down, I knew I’d have to eventually tell them, since the changes would eventually start to become too noticeable, plus I figured they’d probably figure it out from the insurance statements.

My parents tend to lean more right—leaning, so I was terrified of what they’d say. They also help me pay for college, as well as most other things in my life. I do have a job, but it‘s part-time because I go to school, so I wouldn’t be able to afford to move out. For all these reasons, I was able to justify hiding the fact that I was on HRT.

Eventually, they *did* find out from their insurance statements, and to say they were pissed is an understatement. My father said about all the bigoted things I expected him to, and my mother, while she expressed her desire for me to not transition, was most hurt that I hid something so major from them while living under their roof.

She also told me she thought I was using her for her money, which wasn’t entirely untrue. I love my parents, and I desperately wish that they would change their beliefs, but if they don’t, I fear I will have no choice but to cut them off as soon as I am financially stable enough. I can’t stand living with their disapproval.

I know I’m not guiltless, I know I’m pretty much just suffering the consequences of my actions, but Am I The Asshole?

I want to start off by saying Messi is the greatest of all time. He’s won everything there is to win, he’s broken countless records, and still doing what he does at 39 is absolutely incredible. BUT… I personally think the hype is going a bit too far in the sense of ballon d’or rankings. There’s countless of posts online projecting Messi to win the ballon d’or if he wins the world cup, and many people are actually agreeing with it. I personally think that’s insanely disrespectful, and if Argentina wins the world cup and messi gets awarded the ballon d’or, the award has lost much of its credibility. Don’t get me wrong, winning the world cup is the most prestigious award in all of football, but it is so disrespectful to forget the entire past season just because of who won it.

Messi has had a phenomenal world cup, and if he wins it, it would be a perfect way to end off an incredible career. Golden boot, player of the tournament, and back to back victories would be absolutely unreal. However, I think it’s insane to forget players like Kane, Dembele, Olise, and Yamal who have accomplished so much, just for their efforts to be ignored because of who won the world cup. Messi has had a really good season with inter miami, but the MLS is nowhere near Europe. Kane also had a really good world cup campaign scoring 6 goals and 1 assist in 7 games, but nobody seems to care because it is being overshadowed by Messi’s campaign. It almost seems like this incredible performance is actually HURTING his chances at winning, just because they lost in the semis. I think undoubtedly the ballon d’or should go to him or Yamal depending on the results of the final. If all it took to win the ballon d’or was to have a good world cup campaign, why even try domestically? What are the top 5 leagues and the UCL good for in terms of ballon d’or ranking? Why not move to lower competitive leagues to farm stats and focus on having a solid world cup instead?

Messi carrying argentina to another back to back world cup trophy is incredible and deserves all the respect it gets, and hey i would say he’s definitely a top 5 contender for the ballon dor because of the campaign he’s displayed, but to actually win it? I think that’s too far. It’s completely unfair for the players who consistently played elite football at high levels for an entire season to be overshadowed by 8 games. Kane didn’t spend the entire season being consistent and scoring 70+ goals just for people to forget about him and say he doesn’t deserve it because he “ghosted” against Argentina. There is absolutely no way a single game should overshadow an entire season of hard work and consistent, elite football.

I think there’s a lot of recency bias going on. If at the end of the UCL final you were asked “should Messi win the ballon d’or if he wins the world cup?” what would your answer be? what if you were asked the same question but about Ronaldo instead? I think it goes to show how recency bias is swaying peoples opinions and making everyone forget about the incredible season these players had.

I’ve stumbled upon this street pianist’s videos and, although he himself looks real and there are many aspects of his performances that look way too complicated to be made with AI, there’s something very clearly fake about them. Take this one, for example. The sooner you understand this the easier it will be for you. I have seen a lot of guys waste their time money and energy on women that are not interested in them. After all that effort they don't understand she is just not into you. The truth is if someone is interested in you they will let you know and they won't make it hard for you to approach or date. I have seen many guys get into relationships where it's obvious she doesn't like him and is only tolerating him because he is willing to do things for her that the guy she actually likes is not.
