Can't these guys just come together and figure out a difinitive layout for these buttons? Usually the way it works in the gaming industry is that producers/desigenrs take inspiration from one another, and eventually consolidate into a roughly singular design. These guys are annoyingly stubborn in their own design.

Or more likely.. it is for legal reasons.. idk

it`s probably a shady businesses practice, caz once you are used to one controller you are less likely to go to the competition`s console caz their layout is different, keeping you trapped in their own console

That's awfully short-sighted since it also traps the players of the opposite console to that console in this scenario.

It would stop people from leaving your console perhaps, but would just as likely prevent new players to come to your console as well.
