Hi everyone, I was the OP for this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Cairns/s/BmrnccP4ZQ). we’ve managed to secure a rental in Edmonton!

Now….. on the previous post i’ve gotten comments about the south side in general. so i guess the big questions is,
Should we be looking at getting CCTV’s / Ring doorbell installed around the property?
the property is at the end of a cul-de-sac and near resolution drive park.
what should we be aware of? how can we better prepare ourselves? and what general advice would you offer?
of course i understand every suburb has its good and bad and i wouldve posted this looking for advice no matter where we wouldve ended up in 😊

scouting properties around Cairns for a few months now. not gonna lie, it's been a bit of a reality check.

found a place last week that looked like a bargain. great location, decent size, nice yard. started thinking about maybe extending down the track, adding some value. You know how it goes.

checked the council data. turns out the whole area is in a flood overlay. not just the property, the whole street. and not just the minor stuff either. pretty much rules out anything I was thinking about doing with the place.

anyone else in Cairns dealing with this? Feels like half the listings conveniently forget to mention these things

Hello Cairns! My Dad bought a t-shirt from a market in Cairns in the 80s and I have been searching so hard for who made the design and I need your help! does anyone know if there's anything out this way? I'd love to find a studio that's not a 40 minute drive each way.

also been looking at buying a pilates reformer machine australia for home cause it might just be easier than driving everywhere. but I'm not sure if it's worth it without trying classes first.

any recommendations for studios or even good online options would be great. cheers!

Anyone up in Cairns actually gotten a decent car loan rate, or does everything come with some kind of regional markup because were not Sydney or Melbourne?? been shopping around for a few weeks now and every quote I get feels higher than what my mates down south are paying for basically the same car and credit situation.

Started wondering if its just a Cairns thing or if I'm going about this wrong. Tried a broker just to see if going wider than the local banks would help, and honestly the rate came back better than anything I got locally, which kind of confirmed my suspicion that sticking to just the branches near me was limiting my options the whole time.

Is this a common experience for anyone else regional, or did I just get unlucky with the lenders I originally tried?

thinking about trying pilates for ages but never actually done it. my posture is embarrassing and my lower back is starting to complain about all the sitting I do

I'm in cairns and figured it's time to actually do something about it. looking for somewhere that's not too intense or judgy - I'm pretty inflexible and don't wanna feel like an idiot lol

also been wondering if anyone here has bought equipment for home? I've looked at some options online for a home pilates reformer but not sure if it's worth it for a small space. plus shipping to FNQ is always a concern.

any recommendations for studios or even online classes that are good? I'm near the CBD but don't mind driving a bit. bonus points if they have evening classes cause work finishes late
