Solo female traveling to San Diego in mid‑November 2026 — looking for affordable, safe accommodation options. I’m not renting a car, so I’d prefer to stay somewhere with easy access to amenities. Also wondering if it’s possible to hire a guide for one or two days to explore the city.

Beach restroom closures, opinions?

not for sure if you have heard but many of the beaches in san diego are closing the restrooms to save reported 500k annually….. many of the beaches or the Bay areas are miles away from your general town area so I’m trying to figure out how that’s supposed to play out

I know this pretty much a direct jab at the people who have been living on the beach and whatever vehicle or vessel, including ships, but they still have staff to take out the trash and a few other things, but somehow pay them for an hour or two more to clean the restroom is out of line I don’t know what are your thoughts?

California State Flag w/ Surfboard

Hi everyone! I’m wondering where I could find a flag similar to the one they have flying at the Tourmaline Surf Park? I know I can find it online, but I’m looking to purchase locally in SD. It’s the California flag and the bear has a surfboard. If anyone has seen something similar in SD or even LA or has any recommendation on where to look for one... Thanks!

Question

I’ll be living in SD for the next 11 months for work. One of my biggest hobbies is running. Since I’ll be getting sundays off I was wondering if there is an app where it shows me where the road races are/registration for them. Tia!

Sharp x Kaiser for psychiatry/psychology in San Diego?

Hi all.

I'm trying to choose between Sharp and Kaiser Silver through Covered California, and the deciding factor for me is mental health care. I take medication for depression and plan to see a psychiatrist every few months.

For anyone who's had either insurance in San Diego, how was your experience finding a psychiatrist or psychologist? Were wait times reasonable? Did you feel like you got good care? I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences before I enroll.

Thanks <3

How to recover photos on the same iphone without Icloud backup?

Hi guys,

I accidently erased my phone as a new phone set up and all of my photos in the last more than 15 year were gone . I went to Apple store but they couldn't recover it since I don't have Icloud backup. I am very upset and still find the way to get all photos back.

Have anyone had the same problem and can be able to get it back? Thanks so much!

Which medi-cal plan should I choose?

I’m a medi-cal recipient in Orange County but I am moving to North San Diego County soon. I’m wondering what medi-cal plan I should choose. So I need to have a PCP (preferably an MD), a dentist, a therapist twice a week, an OB/gyn, likely an ENT doctor, a pulmonologist, a neurologist, a podiatrist, a psychiatrist. I may potentially need to see other types of specialists as I am having a lot of health problems.

Travel Itinerary Help

Hello -
I am currently planning on visiting San Diego late August to first week of September. I’ve seen that visiting the zoo, balboa park, and La Jolla is a must. However, I am traveling for 5 days with my girlfriend, and would love to know what are some of the must visit spots. Also, we’re vegetarian so any food recs will be really helpful. Any ideas would help me plan this out perfectly, and make the most of SD.

Thanks!

Moving from Costa Rica to San Diego

I am thinking about moving to SD after living in Costa Rica for 3 years. The main reason is access to US healthcare. Before leaving the US I lived in Chicago. Rent has gotten so expensive in Chicago the last few years that SD actually looks on par or cheaper not to mention there's no 6-month winter. Plus health insurance on the California market looks cheaper too.

I'm considering a studio or 1 BR with a budget around $2K.

I will probably get a motorcycle.

Does that budget sound reasonable? Any neighborhood recommendations? Anything I'm overlooking?

I need some advice on where to move

Recently visiting San Diego want to movie here fs. I’m 24M. Everyone saying north park is the best option but tbh I’m not a party person and I don’t drink. It seems living there will be noisy and won’t come with much privacy. I think I would prefer something more chill. I do love balboa park so that’s the only reason I would consider. What do you guys thing of santee or El Cajon. Sure not much to do but it doesn’t seem like a far drive from the city. And recommendations for for a decent 1 bedroom or studio that isn’t overpriced for the area (1500-1800 seems ideal.

Also should I consider Chula Vista?

Noise Investigators Recommendation

Yeah, exactly what the title is. Hey San Diego, I’ve been in a war of attrition with my HOA about this noise in my bedroom that I am constantly hearing, and I mean constantly. It is day and night, vibrational, rhythmic, thumping. And you can only hear it in my bedroom so obviously it’s starting to drive me bonkers. I’ve been working with my next-door neighbor to try to get to the bottom of the noise, but they can’t figure it out either because they can’t hear it. They’ve all been so gracious and letting me play: “ hey can you turn this thing off in your house for me to see if it’s what’s making the noise?”

And we still can’t figure it out. The HOA won’t assist me unless I am the one that narrows it down and provides them a proof of recording. I tried with my cell phone, a Zoom recorder, those recording apps, but it’s just way too vibrational.

I searched up noise investigators in the San Diego area and there’s a few and I’m just not sure who to go with. I know this is a very niche question, but I could really use the help.

Update: We discovered it was my downstairs neighbor’s ceiling fan! I offered to buy them a fan so they don’t use it until the owner and I can come to an agreement I guess. We’re hoping it’s just a loose screw or something.

Manufactured homes in SD

Hi everyone, I wanted to know who all here has bought a manufactured home already on a land. What should I know? Like for example, I’ll see really cheap manufactured homes in nice areas. For example San Diego has some. I know that they’re made with cheaper materials etc. but realistically what’s the catch? Say it’s a 150,000$ manufactured home in San Diego. I put 20% down or whatever. 700+ credit. They say the estimate is 1,000$ a month or somewhere around that. What else am I paying that they’re not including in the listing? I heard it’s never as cheap as it seems and there’s all these crazy fees? Is that true or just for some, or for all?

San Diego Renters

Quick question for anyone who’s applied to rent in San Diego recently — how many application fees did you pay before you finally locked a place down? Did any landlord ever just… never respond after you paid? Trying to figure out if this is as common as I think it is. Would genuinely appreciate hearing your experience (good or bad).
