It's gonna take a lot more than voting to combat this. I know nobody wants to inconvenience themselves, but if you sit around and wait for votes you're going to be in for a rude awakening.

They're overreaching because they're afraid.

I don't get why they're so scared. Losing the house does not mean members of the GOP are gonna be swinging from the gallows.

Because then Democrats have the ability to investigate crimes and corruption, and win votes on it.

I know. But because the opposition party is in the bag too, it feels hopeless.

The tracks have been laid. The steps lead nowhere good.

And what, exactly, would you propose?

Its pretty obvious.

If they make being a democrat a terrorist charge. What choice will we have?

Say you're a righty and sabotage from within.

You talking about yourself? They just said it's terrorism to be a liberal, and you think there is going to be a peaceful transfer of power if you even manage to vote them out? Assuming you're not a bad faith actor on the right then you should really work within your community to prepare for the future because even the best case scenario isn't gonna be pretty.

Edit: To be very clear GO VOTE. I am not saying voting is pointless or bad, it is very important. But you can not rely on ONLY voting.

Yes this is a tactic resistances almost always employ.

Do you think they voted from within to change things?

Get involved in your local politics and elect people that will pressure your county, to then pressure the state, to then pressure the federal government.

More boring than the other guy's answer but at least it's realistic.

If they make being a member of the opposing political party a terrorist act. How and who do you expect you will be voting for?

And yet if you don’t bother to vote you will hurt us all - so it’s more like a “yes and”

Be specific about what you mean we should do. Start shooting people? Die or go to prison, and maybe not accomplish anything? Leave my family without a husband and father?

As long as there's a chance that voting will at least improve things a little, of course people are going to wait and see. Elections are only months away at this point.
