turn the tables

I wish dude, but the Democratic party would NEVER. Too spineless for that. Too comfortable with the status quo. Comfortable being the controlled opposition.

Guaran-fucken-tee you, the next time the Dems have control of one of the branches, they'll be right back to "Let's reach across the aisle, let's put aside our divisions, let's not stoop to their level..."

And NOTHING will get done. I'd bet my life on it

Walter Benjamin, before he killed himself fleeing the Nazis, wrote that fascism is the aesthetic takeover of the political. Your comment gets at the heart of why this all started well before Trump.

Not that both sides are the same, The fascists are much worse. But because fascism is a kind of rot, a symptom of a democracy or an empire that is failing. The fascists wouldn't have been able to take hold if people didn't already believe that the system was corrupt and the politicians promises were empty lies. That everything is just a spectacle.

And no one is better at spectacle than the fascists. Once the political has been turned into a spectacle it's just a matter of time before a con man is able to play that game and offer the emptiest of promises and point fingers at the most helpless in order to sweep the nation's coffers of all the value it has left.

Because Democrats are owned by the same people as core Republicans they're unable to act, their goal is to keep the system running, just don't siphon so much money so fast that the masses revolt.

Things really have taken a turn since around 1997, in 30 years we reached the peak of human wellbeing and it's been on the decline ever since 2008

It started in 1981, in Regan's first time, and has built up from there.

Nixon's embarrassment shocked these people so much that they built an entire system of subversion. It SHOULD have been taken seriously as a way to overthrow the governments' function, but it never was.

This really clicked for me when RGB died and Pence was talking about it. I don’t remember if it was an official speech or not but he mentioned how their families had been friendly/eaten dinner together. (At least that’s how I remember it, it’s been a long 6 years)

I felt stupid for it taking so long, because I was wellllll into adulthood, but it was at that moment that I really realized that they’re all on the same team, they pretend to be on opposite sides for us to keep us fighting.

I wish more people realized this.

Maybe if Kamala or the Clintons see the inside of a prison the Democrats will change their tune! These people dgaf as long as they themselves don't get thrown in a cage without a trial, or even any charges. Until then, it will be business as usual, just like it was last time Trump was president. The plebs suffer under a dictatorship while the "adults in the room" of the Democratic party fundraise away without a care in the world.

When it comes to practical matters (gas prices, healthcare, data centers, etc) Trump is actively harming the very people who elected him, so every once in a while he has to give them a cheap win to lift their spirits. A few months ago, it was Obama as an AI ape. A few months from now, it might be the real Obama in a concentration camp -depending on how the war with Iran goes. Only then will "moderates" understand that their Lindsey Graham memorial posts won't save them.
