Trying to couch democrats (liberals) as a threat in the lead up to the midterms, in order to intimidate them from showing up at the polls - or at least not vote for a democratic candidate. Even the way he used the phrase republican form of government was kind of deceitful. Educated people get the actual meaning, but not likely Trump voters. They most likely think it translates to the GOP.

It certainly functions to intimidate Democrats from voting. But is also serves to motivate their base to vote as it scares the hell out of them. Sadly and frustratingly, it works. Trump gets his voters to vote.

He is using the phrase "republican form of government" like a shiny object to distract right-wing nationalists.

A republican form of government involves: majority rule, the absence of monarchy, and the rule of law.

He is deliberately conflating a republican form of government with the republican party, and there are plenty of people who are going to swallow it hook, line, and sinker.

Yeah, the phrase "republican form of government" was honestly what stuck out the most to me. Erase democrats from the conversation completely, while also eliminating the entire idea of democracy.

I love that for him. He's sitting there in government housing with cinder block walls and a linoleum floor like a public school. Probably has flickering fluorescent lights in the drop ceiling and a noisy Pepsi machine that's broken and dispensing warm cans.

It's not enough punishment but it'll do for now that his family is petrified of being seen in public.

The only thing that works for Republicans is strategic disinformation campaigns. This isn't one of them. I can't see how this will work. It won't make democrats scared, only pissed off and more energetic to vote. It won't work for your average republican voter who don't label their liberal friends and family as terrorists. It will only work for the same old dolts it has been, the MAGA cult which is slowing down and they know it.

I think you've got it backwards, he is using republican form of government to mean "the GOP is now the only government" while phrasing it in a way that leaves plausible deniability to mean its actual meaning.

He is 100% describing what he knows Dems will do once they are back in power. They will prosecute these people. The prosecuted will be humiliated. He is just preempting the actions by saying "Only people who worship Satan will try and put Donald Trump behind bars." *Dems are in power and start trials* "See!! They clearly worship Satan!"

It's very obvious and wild that I imagine people will just eat this up.
